newcastle v CHELSEA

-------------------------Neuer-------------------------
A.Iraola-----Kompany------Martinez-----Schmelz
--------------Gargano---------Lampard--------------
--------------------------Yaya--------------------------
-----Aguero------------------------------Lavezzi-----
-------------------------Cavani-------------------------

Viviano, Kjaer, Casemiro, Ramirez, Martin, Pazzini, Doumbia

After a decent performance v Birmingham we must up our game Yaya comes back from injury to replace the injured Cesc and martinez drops back to beef up the defence allowing Gargano to come in to make an impression at DM..

Neuer is one of the best in the game, a fantastic shot stopper with great reflexes. Will come off his line to catch high balls or punch clear if he cant. Close down strikers early to reduce their shooting angles. If chasing the game he will throw/kick to wings if winning late on hold onto it for as long as he can to allow players to get back into position.

Iraola and Schmelzer deputise for the injured Lahm and Marcelo, will look to pressurize the two out by putting in solid performances. Will be up agauinst two quick wingers so sit tight and mark them out the game, keep them to the outside and away from the danger area. Dont dive in just hol dthem up and force them out. Attacking they go one at a time to support the wide men, they will go outside looking for the ball allowing Lavezzi and Aguero to cut into the box and get the crosses in to the danger area.
Martinez knows Llorente well so he is marking him, he knows his movement so will be onto him very quickly to keep him as far away from goal as possible. Get close and dont allow him to turn and shoot. Kompany will sit alongside him, a truly wonderful CB, sits tight and clears all other danger at times he may have to help Martinez and if he loses Llorente Kompany will be there to clean up. Kompany goes up for corners and is a huge aeriel threat.

Gargano comes in and is given the DM role, he marke the AM of Newcastle, he keeps it simple, watch the movement and stop him dictating play. Wont go crunching into tackles but make the lad wary of holding on to the ball too long to force him into mistakes, once the ball is won, nice simple passes to Lampard or Yaya. Lampard is now what I consider a box to box player, will help Gargano break up play and force the Newcastle midfielders back by pressurizing every time they try and come forward. When we have he will pick up from Gargano/defenders and drive the ball forward and following his pass to make himself available for a return ball, he will also make late runs into the area.
Yaya is the playmaker, he makes things tick, his passing range is brilliant so when he gets the ball he will look to pick out the froward 3 or those going by him, ie Lampard, FB's..he will look to slide players in on goal or break the defence with passing over the top or through the gaps for players to run onto..Defending he will look to join Lampard and Gargano in keeping there players away from our danger area, and watch there DM or CB making runs forward, he will mark any CB that comes up for set plays.

The front three are very dangerous. Cavani leads the line with the threat of Lavezzi and Aguero comiong either side, when we attack one of the fullbacks will be up so this will allow one of Aguero or Lavezzi to push inside to make an extra man in the middle to force there players to come out and mark, freeing up gaps for others to move into, all 3 are massive threats to the Newcastle goal. Lavezzi and Aguero will take on there markers if the fullback aint up and use lampard, Yaya and Cavani to pass and move into spaces to get a return ball, or drive into the box to get there shots in..Its all about movement and creating there own chances at times so triangles and one twos with the like of Yaya and Lampard will break there defence down. If they can and Cavani is in space get early crosses into as well or feed the ball to his feet for him to have a go. Cavani will mostly be on the last foot of the defence, he will move all the time even if the ball is in our own half as we will break very quickly he must get himself into positions where he is a threat. look for those behind for support and if he cant get a shot off look to link up play with those coming forward. Leap early to get an advantage on the CB marking him at corners and free kicks. Aguero andLavaezzi must watch there fullbacks coming forward so track back and generally just get in there way, nothing silly just stop them vventuring too far forward.

-------------------Essien-------Barry------------------
----Robinho-----------Kroos------------Willian-----
------------------------Soldado-------------------------

SUBS: Lopez, Alex, Coleman, Zhirkov, Barry, Prince, Lukaku.

Game Plan: We are looking for our 5th successive win against tough opponents but 4 wins should give us a lot of confidence at home as well agains Aston Villa. As well as it being a midlands derby, we need to focus on our game as well. We will be looking to spread the play and get the ball out wide to our full-backs and wingers. We will look to create gaps in their defence by spreading the play and look for the run of Kroos and put pressure on their CB's. We will be looking to keep the ball well and when we lose we go back and retireve it quickly by closing them down and pressing the ball.

Akinfeev - Command his area and organise his defence. Anything he can get he comes and collects. He needs to look big in any 1v1 chances. He also needs to distribute quickly towards the full-backs.

Juanfran and Criscito - Need to spread out to the touchline and create space for themselves. If they overlap the wingers they need to make sure that the wingers cover their position. Sometimes look for the run of Soldado and Kroos if they make runs or if not then play it down the line to the wingers. With their defensive duties, they push the wingers away from goal towards the touchline. Match there pace and make the tackle. If they cut inside thena challenge must be made immediately.

Koscielny and Bonucci - Bonucci marks the striker tightly, not allowing him to twist and turn away from him. As soon as he gets the ball he needs to hold him up and make a tackle when possible. Anything in the air has to be won. Koscielny will sweep up behind, because he is both footed it makes him suited for this job. If we are ever comfortable in the game then we need to play our way out of defence however, if we are not comfortable then if it has to go then it doesand they defence must communicate with the keeper.

Essien and Barry - We are looking to control the game in midfield with strong and smart passes from both players. Barry will be the one who makes the tackles on any midfield runners. Essien is the one who collects the ball and sprays the passes about. He can look for kroos/Soldado in an attacking position or look wide to either the full-backs or wingers. If he looks for Soldado/Kroos they need to have been making runs over the top. If the full-backs are on the touchline and are in space then they recieve the ball. When looking for the wingers, try and play the long diagonal ball to split the defence and get us in behind.

Robinho and Willian - 2 wingers that have plenty of pace, skill and strength to beat the full-backs. They need to get right out on the touchline and recieve the ball. They drive to th byline wit pace and croos in towards Soldado/Kroos. If Kroos makes a run through then the ball must be given into him. Crosses must be of high quality towards Soldado. If the space opens up then they need to have a good attempt at goal.

Kroos - Needs to drag a CB out of position and slide Soldado in. Sometimes needs to play the passes out to the wingers when possible, sometimes even slide them through on goal. if he gets a chance then he needs to have a shot at goal that is meaningful. His movement will be key in this game. He needs to make runs that will pressure the defence and pull the defenders out of potsition. He then needs to cross towards Soldado or if the angle is nice then go for a shot.

Soldado - Needs to move around a lot to make himself hard to mark. He has a good burst of pace which will help him get past the CB's. he aso has the strength to hold up the ball and link with Kroos and the wingers. Needs to make runs over the top to get in a 1v1 with the keeper. When he does, then he can't be massing the chances. A lot of crosses will be coming in so he needs to get across his man and win the header or have a good attempt at goal.

Bent – if Losing second half -> Tiote 4-4-2

Keeper- Do you job stop the goals… you have a solid defence ahead of you but Dominguez is new so give him support by being clear and composed with shouts…. We’re not playing a team who have a player who can cut through our defence so that should be a benefit but this is a new defence so you need to be on top form
Defence –be strong in the air and watch out for crosses….make sure you are quick to react to passes and use your speed to keep up and stop runs into the box
WB’s make sure you are overlapping the wingers and getting in crosses… but you are defenders so you need to make sure your not giving there wingers free room and are defeding our goal too

Midfeild- Tiote you are stopping the runs at our defence and you are also linking the defence with the midfield pick the pass to the CM’s and FB’s but defence first
CM’s Receive the ball from whoever and make the runs into the box…. Create space for the Wingers or Hunty and also each other…. Make sure you control the middle and make it your make the job of the defense and Tiote easy by not losing the ball and cutting out there CM’s early
Wingers run the flanks and get crosses in…. there FB;s won’t be able to deal with you… FB;s will be overlapping so use them effectivly and cover back…. Also cut inside and shoot if you need to Hunty will be relying on you so make sure your working

Attack – Hunty you have to hold up the ball for the CM’s to run onto but also make your own space by running at the defence. the game is set up for you to score so get your head on a cross, run into space for the pass for the Cm’s or revice the ball and shoot yourself

---------------Andersen
Srna----Zapata--------Shawcross----Angel
---------Maher-----Sissoko
Kalou-----Trochowski-----Krasic
-----------------Lopez

Subs –, Shawcross, Mariappa, Mavuba, Taiwo, Ocampos, Emmanuelson, Vucinic

Position Tactics

Goalkeeper: I want Andersen to be the commander of the defence. If someone isn’t doing their job he must shout at them and force to keep at their position and man. When the other team are crossing the ball in, he should smack the ball as far as he can or catch the ball preferably. He must bully the attackers so they have no chance of reaching the ball.

Defence: Srna should not be afraid in making a tackle when the winger has the ball. If their winger is running to make a cross he should slide in and get the ball even if the man is taken out. Stop him from doing any skills or running into the box by blocking him. Angel should stop the winger from doing his normal skilful and technical football by blocking his runs and forcing him either to do a poor cross or pass back. Don’t be afraid to take him out. Zapata should pay most attention to the main striker who will be fast and strong. Do not give him any space. He should be trapped . Use as much force as possible. Shawcross should pay attention to the playmakers and wingers cutting into the box.

Midfield: I want Sissoko and Maherprotecting the defence. I want Sissoko to stay with their best playmaker. When marking him he should make sure he has no space so he hasn’t got a chance to make good chances for their attack. Try and block all his chances or just get the ball in any way at all even if he taken out. Maher should help Sissoko If he is having troubles however I feel he should just keep an eye on other players and stop them from getting into space. When they receive the ball I want them to supply the ball to wins so we can create chances of our own. However we also want to retain possession. Kalou and Krasic should try and use their pace to create counter attacks and chances to score. If they are being put out of space then pass it around with the other midfielders to work for more space. Use their skills to beat their defence as well as speed. Lopez can use his physical presence to win headers and get chances to shoot, so cross as often as you can or go into the box and have a chance themselves. Trochowski should keep into space and create as many chances for Lopez as possible. Use his strength to stop players from beating him off the ball. He should also supply the wingers if they need help. If someone is marking Trochowski then the wingers should come into the centre and help him.

Attack: Lopez should use his physical presence to run past defenders and score, beat defenders to the ball, and stop defenders from marking him. He should always run about into space and help the midfield by getting into space near them. If someone is marking him Kalou should come and help. Also if someone is marking him he should not be afraid to barge him away when he is running. Try and get as many set pieces as we can.

Sunderland Tactics vs Man Utd:

------------------Kameni------------------
----Uchida----Burd’---Rolando-----Bocch’----
-----------Ledesma----Carrick------------
--------------------Diego---------------------
--Pepe--------------------------El Shaarawy--
--------------------Matri-------------------

Subs:
William Gallas, Ahmed Musa, Daniel Carrico, Josip Ilicic, Federico Balzaretti, Luciano Narsingh and Koke.

Tactics:
Kameni:
He needs to control his defence, be big and strong in one on ones, be assertive in the air and make sure his distribution is really good. His communication with the defenders must be good, telling them where to be and when and also when he is coming to collect the ball.

Atsuto Uchida and Salvatore Bocchetti:
They need to be strong in their tackles and not let their winger beat them, they will always try and show the winger onto their weak foot so that they are at the disadvantage. I want Bocchetti to stay back at all times (bar corners) and look to maintain Man Utd’s winger. Uchida will have some freedom to push forward though, he will look to double up with Pepe so we can punish City. When this happens, Ledesma will look to cover.

Burdisso and Rolando:
I suspect Man Utd will be playing Tevez up top, so I have picked two experienced centre backs to deal with him, Rolando will look to man mark him and keep tight to him at all times and try and win the strength battles, whereas Burdisso will look to drop deeper and pick up on any loose balls and also look to cover Rolando, should Tevez get the better of him pace wise. They will be strong in tackles and always make sure they win the ball.

Cristian Ledesma and Michael Carrick:
They will sit in front of the defence and try and break down attacks and start new ones for us. They will be strong in their tackles and always play it simple when on the ball. Ledesma will stay back at all times and look to cover the defence; Carrick will have some freedom to push forward though. When on the ball, they will look to spread the ball wide or to Diego. They may also look to Matri who will look to protect it.

Diego:
He needs to be very energetic and must be all over the place. He will play as a box to box midfielder. He will look to close down Man Utd’s midfield all the time and try and force them into mistakes but will also be looking to push up and try and help us score a goal. When on the ball, he will always look to play it simple and will look to Matri dropping in to collect it or one of the wide men, he will look to push out wide at times to give our wingers another option aswell.

Simone Pepe and Stephane El Shaarawy:
They will try and get past their man and get balls in for Matri. Pepe will look out for Uchida who will look to be overlapping him and will use him. Both need to help out a bit defensively today, especially El Shaarawy as I know Abate likes to get forward. Neither will be afraid to cut in and have a go and neither will be afraid to run with the ball and try and beat a man.

Alessandro Matri:
Matri will be moving in and around the defenders all the time, trying to confuse them and try and open up gaps in the defence for himself and his team mates. He will try and find himself space to collect the ball and lay it off for someone or turn and make a chance for himself. He will try and make himself difficult to mark from the start to confuse the defence and force them into making mistakes. He will look to get in front of the defender when attacking crosses to give the best chance of winning the header. He won’t be afraid to drop deep to come and collect the ball either.

Subs:
If Losing:
Narsingh on for Pepe on 70’. We will play 4-2-2-2 with Diego pushing up to AM and El Shaarawy going up front.
Musa on for Diego on 80’.
Ilicic on for Carrick on 80’, We will play 3 AMs, 2 STs and Ledesma will look to sit in DM.

If Winning/drawing:
Koke on for Diego on 60’, this will give us fresh legs in the middle of the park.
Narsingh on for Pepe on 70’, he will come on and try and run at a tired defence.
Balzaretti on for Bastos on 80’, we will play 5 at the back and try and contain Man City for the final 10 minutes:

We need to get our first win of the season, todays against last seasons winners Birmingham may be a tall order but being at home we have every chance. 16th and a 0-0 draw against Wigan was not acceptable.
Hart is a very vocal keeper and will command his back line. Having a goalkeeper of his abililty behind you will give our defenders that extra bit of confidence.
Jagielka will mark Birminghams main striker while Lescott will sweep away any loose balls in the box
Reveilerre and Enrique have the licence to go forward
Parker will break up play and set our teams tempo, Dembele will act as the deep lying playmaker, pinging balls from left to right to Navas, Dempsey, Turan etc.
Navas and Turan will attack the full backs with great pace and dribbling, whipping balls into the box or cutting inside and taking a shot so they don’t become predictable.
Dempsey will provide an aerial threat from set peices and just crosses whipped in from our wingers acting as a second striker in the box for that situation He will play in the hole between midfield and defence where he loves to play. Pick up the ball and try and pick out Jelavic with a through ball or into feet.
Jelavic is a clinical finisher, most of his Everton goals have come from one touch so one good ball from any of our players and we are in with a chance. He can hold the ball up if necessary to get our supporting 3 on the ball and causing danger.

direct, pacey wingers to run at the Brumdefence. Rodellaga will give more pace in attack also. Either Jelavic can release Rodellega into space to run into, or Rodellega will create more space for Jelavic from stretching the defence because Rodellega is obviously faster than Jelavic so he will give us something more.

Gonul-----Miranda-----Garay-----Evra
-----------Veloso----Denisov
Sterling---------Witsel----------Gervinho
----------------Negredo
Subs
Mika, Bisevac, Carvajal, Mbia, Danny, Assaidi, Ideye

Tactics
A balanced 4-2-3-1 formation with a front 4 who will all work together to disrupt defensive possession and create chances.

Keeper
When collecting the ball he should always be on the lookout to start a counter attack, at crosses and set pieces, should look to punch rather than catch.

Full Backs
They are given some licence to attack, as the wingers will be moving inside to give them some space to go forward and will have chances to cross the ball, if they do cross the ball they should aim for the corridor of uncertainty around the 6 yard line. When defending, they should look to just track the wingers and aim to keep them on their wrong foot and block any crosses.

Centre Backs
Garay will compete for the aerial balls, and Miranda will focus on cleaning up the 2nd ball, when the ball is on the floor, the onus is more on blocks than tackles. When on the ball, look to play it simple to a man in space.

Defensive Midfielders
Both DMs will play purelydefensive roles, looking to help the back four and cover them should they move out of position, they should also look to harass the opposition attacking players looking to limit their time on the ball and try to force them into errors.

Attacking Midfielder
Witsel will be the link between defence and attack, when he has the ball, the other front 3 will look to find space for him to pass into, if they are doing their jobs, but cant have the ball played to them, they should have drawn a defender or 2 out of position, giving him enough space to try a shot himself, or pass out wide to the full backs.

Wingers
These 2 are playing as inverted wingers, and will look to draw the opposition full backs inside, giving space for our full backs when they have the ball, Gerv Is right footed, so should look to cut inside and work the ball onto his right foot, if there isn't a chance, jink back out wide to put a cross in, When the ball is on the other flank, he should look to join Negredo in the box and give an extra player to aim for. Sterling is a fast, direct player, so he should look to run at the defence, not be afraid to take them on and cut inside to shoot, or stay wide to put a cross in.

Striker
Looking to play an energetic game, harassing the defence to keep them hurried on the ball, when we are attacking he is looking to find a bit of space and get off a shot, or trying to draw the defenders out of position to create space for the other 3 attackers, when the ball is in a crossing position, he should look to attack the space between the centre backs.

Set Pieces
Corners - Veloso takes, the 2 CB's go forward, Both FBs and Denisov stay back to prevent counters, the CB's, Witsel and Negredo attack the ball, Gerv and Sterling take positions just outside the box to pick up any weak defensive headers.

Free Kicks - For direct FK's Veloso and Negredo will shoot depending on which foot it favours. For Indirect FKs, follow the same directives for Corners

Penalties - Negredo is the designated Penalty taker.

Subs

If Winning
70mins - Assaidi and Mbia for Negredo and Witsel

a 4-5-1 with 3 CM's, looking to play a solely counter attacking game, with all 3 front men having good pace, and Assaidi should use his pace on tiring full backs.

80 Mins - Ideye for Sterling - Gives fresh legs, and should harass the opposition.

If Losing or Drawing
60 mins - Danny for Denisov - a straight 433, with Veloso holding, and Danny being attack minded.

70 Mins - Assaidi and Ideye for Witsel and Sterling - go to 4-4-2 with pace out wide.
