Problem is henrik that we have sold hooper and been linked with finbogasson and now we are linked with doyle

For wolves doyle has never amassed more than 9 goals a season, twice relegated and he is in no way a fitting replacement for hooper particularly given the amount we have raked in for transfers and champs league dosh.

If he isnt a replacement for hooper and we have another lines up as well as doyle, why sign balde? Whats the point?

Lenny is very single minded - most (not all) Celtic fans I know would have signed Russell for half the money we paid for Balde - but he's the man who stands or falls by the decisions.

What I struggle to understand is why we seem to have totally given up on Scotland as a source of new players.

Couldn't agree more keny! Some of our signings/targets have baffled me.

I'm not just saying this with the benefit of hindsight but I just knew Daryl Murphy and Bangura were not Celtic class before they even kicked a ball!
John Park is very good but we've signed a few disasters during his watch!!

Bangura bugged me. We were after another guy at the same time from maritimo, big target man and looked a different option who could score headers. But instead we bought the cheap guy like we already had

It sometimes seems like they employ a scatter gun approach! It's like quantity over quality!

We waste some amount of dough on transfer fees and wages!

I mean.... Freddie Llungberg!?!? <spelling>

I said that the other day mate

1.5 rasmussen
1.5 murphy
2 bangura
2 balde

7 millions on guys who wont kick a ball for us,
Plus wages of brozek, lassad, miku and the likes

I just finished watching a Finnbogason video on youtube, have to say he looks like a carbon copy of Hooper, scores the exact same type of goals.

If he's available for £3-4 Million then I think Celtic should spend the money, he's the right age that we would probably be able to sell him in 3 years at a profit.

Doyle would be very disappointing to me.

Really Keny you've wrote of Balde already....?

That's taking fickle to a new level.

Sjb. I've never seen blade play a full game. But tbh going by his YouTube vids and other stats, I don't hold out much hope. Not writing him off but I won't be surprised at all if he fails.
I get gut feelings rightly or wrongly.... I feel boeriggter will be good and finboggason would be great too.... But Doyle and blade don't fill me with confidence whatsoever!
I'll happily be proved wrong.

Lennon has come out himself and said he has raw potential. If we sign doyle and another how does he get in the team? He doesnt he gets loaned out like bangura and rasmussen and then sold eventually. I'll give him a chance he might be good mate iv not wrote him off yet but i have a feeling of deja vu

McClean for 1.5-2.5 million.

You decide

Factimondo.

I don't think the decision makers do take the opinion of fans too much. If they did Sammy and Brown would have been punted long ago. They are the decision makers, if they see something in Doyle, maybe it is something we missed. They are the decision makers for a reason and I back them 100%. Faithful through and through!!

Moj, Doyle would run amok up here. Cracking forward, fed by McClean

As a Wolves fan I've watched Doyle for the last six seasons in the top two divisions of England.

There are many different parts to his game, which need to be appreciated. As the OP suggests, you have to be in need of a player of his style.

If you want goals then he is an average championship striker.

But I say this without bias... I've only ever seen one similar premier league player to him who can run at defenders from the halfway line and draw the foul...or be a continual nuisance around the 18 yard box - that is Luis Suarez.

For that reason he is the perfect attacking midfielder/deep striker to sit behind two strikers.

I think if Doyle does come in he will be joined by another striker. Doyle won't be Hoopers replacement but will add another dimension to the squad. Don't understand the anti Doyle contingent to be honest. Anytime i've seen him play he works his socks off for the team and is excellent at holding the ball up. Could be very useful in Europe and would score for fun in the SPL.

I wish we had signed Doyle years ago for pittance, when he was offered to us from Cork.

We don't need someone who works hard though, we need someone with genuine quality. A goal scorer, a bit of flair. Not someone who couldn't dribble on ecstacy

I've said it before, if we sign Doyle and that's it then the board and Lennon have shafted every Celtic fan

I agree we do need to sign someone with a bit of flair, a goal scorer. Yes 100%. That's why if we sign Doyle I think we will also sign a striker/finisher. If its a case of Doyle and nobody else then yes we can feel disappointed. I don't think that will be the case though.
