This is the full quote.

"Last year I had the chance to move to a big European club and I stayed on the understanding that if we failed to qualify for the Champions League at the following season I would be allowed to go," said Suarez. "Now want is for Liverpool to honour our agreement.

"I have the club's word and we have the written contract and we are happy to take this to the Premier League for them to decide the case. But I do not want it to come to that.

"I don't feel betrayed [by Liverpool] but the club promised me something a year ago just as I promised them that I would stay and try everything possible to get us into the Champions League.

"I'm not going to another club to hurt Liverpool. "I know I have made mistakes in my time here but I have apologised lots of times. This is not about that.

"This is about the club having agreed to something both verbally and in the contract which they are now not honouring.

People may accuse me of showing a lack of loyalty but last season we told Liverpool there was interest from a top European club but they told me, 'We've got a new coach and we're going to push for the Champions League'.

"I spoke with Brendan Rodgers several times and he told me, 'Stay another season, and you have my word if we don't make it then I will personally make sure that you can leave.

"I don't think the supporters are angry - I think they understand a player when he has the ambition to triumph at the highest level."

The sooner that sewer rat leaves this counry the better. The laughable thing is the Scousers still think the sun shines out of his arris, despite him disrespecting their club every couple of days.

Hopefully Madrid will buy him once they realise they can't afford Bale. Is iffy though how they all come up with these so called "agreements" when they are under contract and want to move. I do feel for them to an extent as they stuck by him while he was being a complete tool which to be fair has been most of the time.

But if it is written into the contract then why is Suarez out of order?

If Bale had written into his contract the same, then equally what could my team do?

Verbal agreements on such important scenarios, I agree, are a meaningless thing but, if in writing, then there is a legally binding agreement between parties.

Its a Verbal agreement, Not a written one, that leaves the power with the club.

I expect FSG will take the hard line on this, it will be playing for us here, or playing for someone else abroad, i cant see they will sell to a fellow premiership team.

We always hear rubbish about contracts being meaningless, so why would a verbal agreement be any more binding. It really is hilarious hearing all these footballers coming out with all sorts of cack to try to manoevre their way out of a club.

I agree with the OP on this , seems very strange that all of a sudden this verbal agreement has come to light . Seems more and more payers are saying this as soon as a bigger cub come sniffing.

I hope both Bale and Suarez stay with there respected clubs , as they are fantastic players.

Respect to Bale for "so far" not demanding a transfer and kicking off publically. Still time i guess.
