The Cassillas situation is going to be a massive distraction, until it is resolved one way or the other.

It's because of their media links.

Bear in mind that players like Raul or Casillas came into the side as teenagers, and that even before they make the 1st team they've got journos at the training grounds with the sole aim of deceiving them into believing they're their best friends. The journos push their names and cases in the media, but their sole intention is to use them later as inside sources on what's going on in the team.

The way journos like Roberto Gomez lobby in favour of their 'protegés' and the lengths they'll go to -his rubbishing of Diego Lopez for example has been sickening- is cringeworthy and a downright disgrace.

Madrid need to tackle this issue. Certain journos shouldn't be allowed within 5 miles of the club or training grounds. And if they can't set down strict rules regarding the players' relationship with journos, they should at the very least teach them at the academy about their serpent-like ways and the perils they hold.
