De Gea, Evans, Valencia, Jones, Rafael, Evra, Carrick, Rooney, RVP and Januzaj are probably the only players that are what you'd call first team players for United.

Be that down to lack of options or being able to play in different positions.

The squad needs an overhaul, however, I don't think we are nearly as bad as we've shown this season and that Moyes doing his best impression of Allegri is one of the reasons for our poor form in the league.

Who needs to go then? That's probably the easiest way of rebuilding, clear all the deadwood and then see what you've got left and build on top of it.

Everyone talks about Ozil for Arsenal's transfer dealings, but they managed to get rid of some amount of average squad players taking up big wages.

Pirlo would cost peanuts in comparison to those two. Spurs will either play Lamela or let him linger as a squad player to save face as it's their record transfer fee. As I said earlier Mata is a possibility.

The problem is that there's so much deadwood that it's unlikely they'll all be released in such a short amount of time.

Giggs, Rio, Vida and Evra are out of contract in the summer. The first two need to retire and the latter two I think are holding us back.

Then we have players like Anderson, Young, Nani, Valencia and even Kagawa who just aren't cutting the mustard.

Carrick is ageing, Fletcher who knows what will happen with him, Cleverley is average and Fellaini is crap.

The squad was not left in the best shape at all by Fergie, but it shouldn't excuse Moyes of his failings this season.

If he's on a free I could see Pirlo going to Inter.

I'm sure Juve will offer him a new contract, though.

Ideally wanted Lavezzi but that will not happen.

I think Lamela on loan or Mata will sign on loan with a view to sign on a permanent basis.

Both Mata & Lamela need to be playing if they want a ticket to Brazil for the World Cup.

A couple of good signings and Inter will scrape top three, in my opinion.

The problem with inter os not the players they sign (or dont sign)

but the same problem Man U have & that is consistency.

Inter are capable however they need to be consistent.

I did think for a while that it would be Roma who would be vulnerable to dropping out, but if anyone it will be Napoli. Hopefully Roma win this weekend for the good of the league.

Henrik, I actually think it'd be better for Serie A if Roma didn't qualify for the CL as there's a real possibility they'd just go out in the group stages anyway.

Inter, Juve and Napoli would put the league in a better position to pick up their league ranking.

Just checked- they're still above the likes of Juve', Dortmund and PSG co-efficient wise. They need to hurry up before the 2010 co-efficient runs out though.

Second seeds I reckon. It doesn't look like the teams below them will make up a huge amount of ground and United, Milan, Valencia, Lyon and Shalke might not qualify anyway which should see them stay in that pot 2 if they drop down further.

We need a huge improvement in the second half of the season or we won't even get into the Europa, that's how bad we've been.
