Spanish refs are generally required to have at least 10 years' experience as rhythmic gymnastics or synchronised swimming judges.

Villarreal held a gala at El Madrigal to unveil how it's rewarding supporters for next season.

Season ticket holders who missed two or fewer games last season will get a 10% discount.

Free passes for the unemployed will be available for the sixth year running.

The club has created a category called "Very Yellow People (VYP)" and if you attend all the matches you get privileges such as meeting the players or travelling with the team.

Supporters who cannot attend certain matches can notify the club and they will pass it onto a charity organisation, but your attendance will still be counted.

I know we had a few bad headlines last season due to the Alves stuff, but on the whole this is a special club in how it treats its fans. Hopefully, I can get over for a Europa League game next season assuming Celtic make the Champions League!

That's a bit classless from Barcelona if that is true.

Let's hope Gio starts tonight- I've bet him for first goalscorer.

WC started nicely, even the Japanese are ashamed of Nishimura. Looked to me like brasilians found some japanese tourist and gave him a whistle

It was actually a brilliant game ruined by an incompetent/bent ref. Hope the standard of footie remains like that or even improves because the football in the last world cup was terrible from most teams.

The same ref officiated Brazil's defeat to the Netherlands at the last World Cup.

Barça directors must be very concerned about a potential backlash if they published those statements about Cesc. I don't see it happening, but it shows they feel like they're very much against the ropes.

Best thing for Barça imo would be for the current board to resign and call fresh elections.

Backlash for selling a player the fans never took to? The stats were actually interesting though. I wonder if the same trend existed at Arsenal though. Is there any site I can look them up?

Too bad we had to sell him for only 33mil but if the fee was higher 50% would go to Arsenal.
Personally I'd keep him but not too upset he's been sold, he's so slow it's difficult to watch.

And by keeping him I'd play him in Xavi's role, pace isn't a factor there.
