I usually prefer to go for the 'bigger price option', so I have picked Cabrera, English, Merrick, Weekley.

Tiger is of course in form, but he no longer strings victories together like he used to, and by playing so well last week, I wonder if he can maintain it for this week. Still has the ability to blow the field away, but on a course which won't exactly be offering up birdie chances, I just have my doubts.

Think Poulter might have a sneeky chance, obviously Woods was on fire last week and might have a few quid on Duffner.

Got a few quid on Duffner earlier this week at 50s and his odds seem to have come in the past few days.

Usual few bob on Fowler and a cheeky bet on Manassero.

Think Bradley could be one to watch and Mahan. Looking forward to it.

You got Duffner at 50s? Def worth a punt.
Bradley good shout annoying to watch

Bradley is paired with Tiger for the first 2 days.

Milk,

Yes couldn't turn down Duffner's odds at 50s especially after his performance at Bridgestone and he's had a good run in the PGA, probably should have won it actually.

Only think with him is just as he's putting a round together he always finds a new way of blowing up.

Poulter is a decent shout, especially out of the English contingent.

Woods is the obvious favourite but the slow greens generally don't suit his game and last time he was here he finished well back.

Anyone fancy Snedeker to challenge?

Watching Duff the other day and his short putting seemed very shaky, let him down a bit. Anything 3-10 ft didn't look great.
Snedeker always seems to in there somewhere also Oosthuizen & Schwartzel.

Fowler has started well here, hope he can put a good round together. Been backing him for a while now to break through in a major.

Tiger started ominously as well, he's found the speed of the greens quite well here to my surprise so far and has started putting well.

If he can keep his putter ticking over he'll take some stopping with the form he's in.

Is Woods keeping the driver in the bag?
Always looks like he will fall over when he hits it.

Not sure what DeLeat's odds are but he's #1 on Tour in total driving and ball striking. Made it a long way in the FedEx Cup last year I think too.

Yes the driver has been tucked away.

He's just hit a beauty of an iron shot, could be sharing the lead soon.

Put the mockers on him there, missed his birdie.

posted on 8/8/13

He has a great chance if leaves the driver at home

posted on 8/8/13

He's just pulled the driver out for the first time and he's in the rough I think...

Furyk is making this look too easy. With 2 holes to go, bogey-free -6! That's exceptional.

His nose reminds of the great American bald eagle.

Double bogey for Woods at the last for a 71. The difference for me with Woods is simply the consistency factor. He use to be able to maintain his form over a number of tournaments, now if he has a good tournament, like most other players, it's difficult to do the same again.

Having played so brilliantly last week, I didn't feel confident that he would reproduce again this week. Of course it's still only the first round, but it's just the way he has been all season.

Furyk drops a shot to finish -5. Will be tough to see anyone better that.

Scott at -6 with 3 holes to go.

All my 5 picks have done fairly well.

Go Jiminez!

Kaymer is doing very well too.

posted on 9/8/13

Ouch, I jinxed Jiminez? Double bogey on 17th, drops him to -2.

No bogies so far for Scott, who is at -6

Congested leaderboard this.

The name that's standing out though for me isn't Scott or Westwood but Jason Day.

No matter the major he normally seems to be so consistent in getting around the leaders, his putting this year has been on the money. Not much in his game wrong at the moment, just needs to get over the line.

Of course Scott will probably be the man to beat. Be surprised if Furyk has a share of the lead come the end of today.

Top of the leaderboard is so crowded!

I see at least 25 well-known contenders for the title. Kiradech Aphibarnrat of Thailand is the only one less familiar to me. I heard he won a European and 2 Asian.

Agree, Scott is still the man to beat.

I don't like Garrigus and Webb Simpson, and I am not fan of Kuchar. I don't mind any of the others at the top of the board.

Dufner had the outright lead. What a guy, does he even remotely know he has the lead? Or is he still asleep?

Nevertheless this is some round so far and the course record for a single round is under threat for the second time today.

Extraordinary really.
