Today's game

I was optimistic before the start of the season with a few new faces coming in to the squad.
Hopefully, they'll settle but there was nothing positive about the game as far as I'm concerned.
GMS on the sore end of some ridiculous tackles as usual.
Disappointing start to the new season but surely we can only get better.

Any what's happened to Goodwillie? Might be a problem with his fitness but at the moment, he's a waste of a strip.

The 4-2-3-1 worked well when we had Russell, as he'd play out wide when needed, but support in the box too. Currently we've got no-one supporting Goodwillie, and he's getting sod all service. If we're not going to play it properly, don't play it at all.
Dillon was as bad as I've seen him - wish he'd stop hitting it with his left foot as he doesn't have one. Erskine produced one of the all-time worst performances I've seen at Tannadice. Goodwillie is overweight & tires quickly. Armstrong anonymous.
At least Robertson was good. A 19-year-old in his second ever game as a professional. Shows how much the rest need to step up.

I think folk are a bit quick to boo though, this is the first home game of the season and only 6/14 players used were here last season. Considering how long it took for folk to get fed up of Houston, I'm surprised how quickly they're turning on McNamara. Hopefully he gets a reaction from the players, at least in the interview he saw what was wrong, unlike other managers who pretend everything is fine!

Bit too early to panic but a poor start to the season.
For the first home game a dismal performance.
Still looks like Jackie doesn't know his best team.
Most, or at least many, supporters would have expected Goodie and Graham to play up front with Gauld and GMS out wide.
Maybe only one depending on the opposition.
As already said we're still weak in central defence.
Butcher needs time to settle but will have to improve.
Gunning will presumably take one of the central defender roles.
And if Soutar is good enough then play him.

Yeah not a great performance at all. Dillon was truly shocking How can you play football every day and still be so poor, I mean that was embarressing yesterday.

Dillon and Erskine were the worst but the whole team just seemed like they didn't cared if they won or lost, Robertson was probably our best player, thought Dow played well when he came on and should have been on earlier maybe and where were Gauld & Souttar??

I'm not going to hit any panic buttons yet, and hopefully we'll be able get the better of Hibs next week.

You know its been a bad game when a player getting subbed and a seagull taking flight get the two biggest cheers from the fans

Didn't really understand the Rankin substitution either really TBH. But we are still a new team and manager I suppose so hopefully we'll improve, I'd be tempted to take the armband off Dillon after that performance if I was the manager. Surely the young players are not going to take much confidence from a man who's be playing football for 15 years and is still that bad

But the booing at the end was at bit much TBH I was far from happy myself but booing the new/young players off the park after the first home game

Just seen the highlights (if you can call them that) and I just can't believe that Goodie miss!!!!!!

And considering the fuss that was made last week about Butchers tackles I find it strange the challange on GMS hardly even got a mention.............

From where I was sitting, Goodie's miss didn't look that bad but on the TV it looked shocking. Watson's follow-up was also woeful. The tackle on GMS was also terrible, really needs more protection.

I'd like to have seen Ivan's deconstruction of that performance, but I think he was away at a bunga bunga party or something during the weekend. Lucky guy to miss that game. Hopefully Hibs is better... well it'd better be.

Both United and Hibs have started very poorly, Hibs a bit worse. Neither team has scored a goal yet and we've only got one point between us, both teams will be a bit nervy and it probably should be a low scoring game so no doubt it'll finish up 4-4

I thought Inverness played very well - and that was one of the reasons United looked so poor.

They didn't let us play the ball, they pressed high up the pitch for most of the game and they were very good in possession.

That doesn't excuse the slackness of play from United for pretty much the entire 90 minutes. We were poor from start to finish, with only Rado I thought having a good game.

Dillon had a nightmare, I didn't know he was captain until Saturday but he certainly didn't do anything to show he's improved from last season. To be fair though, we don't have any captain material (but that's where Jackie needed to make the change? signings?)

Midfield was absent entirely, with Armstrong and Erskine having shockers, and Goodie got no service all game. Had he finished his chance though we would have got the point, which was way more than we deserved. He needs a goal - he looked bereft of confidence all day.

I was very unhappy with the booing at the end as well - what good's that gonna do?

On a side note, anyone know what Butcher was ranting and raving at as he went up the tunnel at 90 mins? I was coming down the tunnel side of ET and he was having a right old go at the Utd fans in that end?
