Great read,
Too many people just dismiss Moyes for one reason or another, but he is a very, very smart guy who is the perfect link between old school traditions and loyalty and a modern manager using the very latest techniques.
JSPC - exactly. While we may not see the benefits of his methods and systems straight away I think we will reap the rewards in the coming years.
A long, but worthwhile, read
Thanks for sharing
Very good read OP.
Thanks.

You can just picture the Sun having a telescopic lens trained on every window at OT and Carrington, just on the off chance they come across some white boards.
Hahaha VC yeah
If they did get to see the potential targets one, I just hope there are hundreds of names for them to get stuck into
I might get a whiteboard myself and write 'Rooney replacements' on the top and stick a list of players underneath and send it in anonymously to The Sun
I know at least one person who would believe it if the Sun printed it
Not sure I would place much hope in that. Do not remember him unearthing any gem from nowhere while he was at Everton. And when I mean gem, I mean incredibly technical players we could use
I guess Wegner is pretty much the master at doing so (Viera from Milan, Fabregas from Barca, Henry from Juve e.t.c)

maybe his transfer budget prevented him from getting a lionel messi...think before you type
Good read.
I'm sure we all like to think we have a good knowledge of football but the reality is the top managers like Moyes live and breath football and know far far far more than we ever will.
Hopefully he will get the full support of the board and fans an if he is given time I'm sure he will succeed.

What about Arteta?
Regardless, his task wasn't to go and find the next Messi... It was to pinpoint players that would improve Everton and match their shoestring budget.

Arteta was already in his mid twenties when he signed for Everton wasn't he. Plus he was fairly well known because he had previous played for Rangers (or one of the Scottish teams)
All I am saying is the club is in desperate need of creative players in CM and the Wings. Moyes just doesnt have the track record of getting such players out of nowhere at bargain prices so looks like we are going to have to over pay to get such players

All the top talented youngsters will be known to all the big clubs long before they reach 17 or 18. Madrid were sniffing around even Bebe by all accounts
Everton are simply not at the front of the queue for young talent
You're comparing apples to oranges though.... For all we know, Moyes and his scouts could have pinpointed Messi, Ronaldo and Iniesta.... Yet he was bound by both the budget and status of Everton.
Now he is at a club with massive pedigree and a very good budget to pay both fees and wages.
