You have a very similar article to one raised by pertonwolf.
Kmac looks like it will not fall off the rails now, a welcome addition.
Sako, not massively fussed if he goes, will have plenty of games at this level where he will go missing/lose interest.
‘Ello stranger, how’s tricks?
As I’ve said before he sounds like an ideal signing. The right balance of experience plus time to grow as we do.
Should be a starter for us but I can’t see Evans or Davis getting dropped after hoe they did on Saturday.
Will he represent the biggest fee paid by a L1 club this window?
Sako, not massively fussed if he goes, will have plenty of games at this level where he will go missing/lose interest.
Only you could miss the irony of this Cinci. You're not fussed if we lose our Player of the Season, whilst repeatedly reminding me that Siggy was runner up to Sako when I said that he didn't live up to his reputation last season.
Personally, I see Sako as a match winner and will do well at Forest. Resigned to losing him, not for football reasons but because he is on a reputed 25k per week.
With Sako - I think it is a big shame to lose a potentially excellent player to a team we'll hopefully be looking to overtake next year.
I'd have been tempted to loan him out with a view to having him back next year.
Does anybody know much about Macdonald? I'm seeing mixed reviews from Blades fans that make for quite interesting reading. Almost all agree he is their best player BUT many also say he:
Underperformed last year
Doesn't have a great attitude
Is the best passer of the ball they've ever had BUT his defensive inability requires two two midfielders to be played to cover for him.
Is quite inconsistent, for which reason they don't see him as a leader and question if he's the wiser head they think we probably need
"As it happens I am remarkably relaxed about this. I agree McD is our best footballer, and in general terms we need to build our team around such players. But over the past two years (including the Ched year when we were playing very well) his direct contribution has been negligible and his lack of mobility and defensive play mean we almost have to play two other midfielders to allow him to play to his strengths. Weir has clearly noticed this, which reflects the current team set up, but I remain unconvinced that over a year his contribution will improve sufficiently to balance up the cost of doing so."
"As a final aside, McD is not the sharpest twig on the tree, with a proven track record of daft behaviour (e.g. at Carlisle he leaves the pitch to change his boots, when we are already down to ten men because one of the team is off the pitch receiving treatment, and Carlisle equalise costing us two points; his general unwillingness to track his man, his sulky nehaviour when things go against us etc.). In terms of a building a genuine team - I fear he is a weak link."
"On his day he is well above average for division 3;but his good games have been few and far between and in that sense he wont be missed."
"He is our best player and probably most important. That is not saying much. He was poor most of last season but still one of our better players. He could be anything he wanted if he could be ar sed. Most of the time he isn't but is still one of few United players who can make things happen, see a pass, get on the ball and generally do positive things. Yeah no club is bigger than a player and he is not totally irreplaceable"
No fans in the world have ever let a player go without listing all the negatives (We certainly never do!) but I wonder if anybody knows much about him or has seen him in more than a game or two?
A couple of people commented on his insane ability to receive the ball when marked and double marked and in no space whatsoever and not struggle at all.
I think he is probably what we need in terms of a Doyle-like player to support Griffiths and I'm cautiously optimistic, I wish I hadn't read the Blades forums though. The sulking would be a worry given the support our young players will need, but perhaps Kenny can sort his attitude out (if it is even that bad).
I wouldn't cry if Siggy went either Cyp......the club is bounding forward by clearing the decks.
But one fact remains, Sako doesn't mind wearing the shirt but is actively seeking another club......Siggy knocked back offers to stay and prove himself........i know which type of player i would rather see in a wolves shirt.
He will become the middle of the 3 in a 4-2-3-1 i assume tats.
Nice one Ulf, all the ammo Cyp needed
He could I suppose. I’d still stick 4-4-2 but I may have mentioned that already.
“Siggy knocked back offers to stay and prove himself” Did he? Who from? How did he hear of these offers? Did we accept one of them and allow him to speak to another club? How did you hear of these offers?
Is the best passer of the ball they've ever had BUT his defensive inability requires two two midfielders to be played to cover for him.
--------------------
Well that suits us fine because we can play Davis and Evans deep with him ahead of them. And if he is able to see passes in the final third then he will help me win my bet on Leigh Griffiths to be top scorer in League One.
With Ismael worth a run on the right that to me means Siggy becomes a bench player at least until Sako leaves
Early in the summer, from lillestrom and another scandi outfit.......he said he wanted to stay at wolves and prove himself, or words to that effect.
The thread is on MM, though im sure burried a little now.
Couldn't agree more, Siggy will be warming the bench for now.
Is the best passer of the ball they've ever had BUT his defensive inability requires two two midfielders to be played to cover for him.
Reminds me of Paul Cook in this respect!
Best passer they've ever had? Don't they remember Tony Currie?
"And former Wolves midfielder Adlene Guedioura may well hold the key to the transfer.
Premier League new-boys Hull and Cardiff have been linked with a big-money move for Guedioura, which would part-fund a Sako deal."
wonder if fatty put a sell on clause in the deal?
I'm sorry Cinci, god forbid anybody should ever not go straight into assuming that every one of our players will be a future England captain. If he was a perfect player...we wouldn't be signing him. So, given he is undoubtedly flawed, I'm more interested to know how so than to all sit around nodding and pretending he is going to be the best player on earth. I'm super excited about the signing, as I am any signing, but I still want to know more.
I think Edwards did something similar Cinci, turned down offers from a host of European clubs to play for Wolves. It was on a forum...somewhere
I remember the last player for Wolves who wasn't perfect in every way, and the stick he got. Step forward, Andy Keogh.
think Edwards did something similar Cinci, turned down offers from a host of European clubs to play for Wolves. It was on a forum...somewhere
There is absolutely no doubt in my mind that Kevin McDonald has the potential to be a top class Premier League player and future Scottish Captain.
Think you are right ulf :D TNS wasn't it?
We already have several perfect players ulf, as in players who so far have an untainted reputation.......Evans, Batth, Ismail to name 3.....isn't that great
Your attempt to portray any realism whatsoever as negative is incredibly tiring Cinci. You act as though the only true non-negative Wolves fans are the people who believe we have the best squad in the entire world, every one of our youth players will one day play for their country and in the premiership with us.
I am no less positive for the fact that I know Macdonald won't be a perfect player. I'll tell you why too - because there is no such thing as a perfect player. Batth will make a stupid mistake this year, Griffiths will scuff a shot wide. Because they are humans. Macdonald may well be the best player we have signed in our whole history but he still won't be perfect because that is impossible - the best attacking player in the world will not do a lot of defending and vice versa, the best headers of the ball tend not to be amazing at dribbling...basic physiology and physics if nothing else prevents a perfect player.
So just chill out, relax. Nobody is disparaging Macdonald. I'm looking for an honest appraisal from somebody who might have seen him a few times.
Jesus, is there not a Wolves forum somewhere where you can join with others and all sit round nodding and saying, yeah I agree, he's great, we're great, yeah, do you agree yeah, yeah?
Also - for the fiftieth time, I am not Ulf.
(In the voice of Frank Burns to Hawkeye and Trapper after they've got him good) You guuuyyyys.
I guess you missed the sarcasm in my original post ulf, I'm sure cyp got it
I did miss the sarcasm Gerald, which bit was sarcastic exactly?
