Can see this being a tight affair.

Posh 7 Oldham 1

Blimey, Champers, that's generous! I wish you similar luck against Millwall - quite possible, with your scorer against the Ruskis and Millwall's recent 3-0 loss to Ipswich.

Still haven't bet on the Posh to win this season, typically after the 3 fine wins Saturday seems to point to a home win, hence the low odds of around 4/7. Think I'll give it a miss though as don't want to be blamed!

Posh put 5 past Oldham in the last 2 meetings, however the London Road meeting required the Posh to come back from 2-0 down! The mighty Posh didn't panic though, as the previous home game they had come back from the same deficit against some West Yorkshire outfit to win 4-2

Wow, SirKen, amazed at your knowledge. No, not worth the punt ...

If we win this one convincingly I think it will set us up nicely.
We need ninety minutes of quality though. hard work and concentration required or a slip up is on the cards.

posted on 16/8/13

Yes, Scary, we haven't enjoyed that ninety minutes of quality yet, although the season is still young. If we can attain it and maintain it, we'll be playing in the Championship again.

Swindon fan in peace.

You're very much in form and confidence must be sky high. You shouldn't have any problem with Oldham and you're a home banker for me.

I'm off to Shrewsbury who have no points and have yet to score a goal in the league, so clearly they're bound to break their duck and get their first win...it's always the way!

Why am I going?

Need a few more good results to get that swagger back though.

you're not by any chance getting Bale on loan are you?.

posted on 16/8/13

How did you know that? He would have been playing for us tomorrow but for his injury. We need a striker and there's some guy called Soldado (never heard of him) who we're supposed to be getting next week.

posted on 16/8/13

I think I've heard of him, he'll be fine for back up.

posted on 16/8/13

That's ok then...we only need cover because we've just signed Nile Ranger. He isn't being given a squad number as he has his name tattooed on his head. Apparently we won't have to pay him if he goes down for rape next Wednesday, so that's ok too.

You couldn't make it up!

Sounds like the pick of the bunch, versatile to boot!.

Off shortly to the match, where I'll be introducing my Arsenal-supporting brother who's over from Vietnam, to the Posh.

Good luck to the non-Posh supporters who've contributed to this thread, in their matches this afternoon.

C'mon the Posh - stun a Gooner!

posted on 17/8/13

Good luck this afternoon to you too.

Another 3 points this afternoon, allowing Oldham a consolation goal, in order for Posh to retain their reputation as League One Goal Rush kings.

Also, only 2 sides 100% now in League One. I wonder if Posh can get to 7 matches to make up for last season?

posted on 17/8/13

That would be nice SirKen, however, Oldham's goal was no mere consolation goal as they were a trifle unlucky not to come away with a draw. We have yet to play our best. Still, Assombalonga was again impressive and could well be Premiership material.

We are enjoying some of the luck missing last season.

P.S. My brother enjoyed watching his first game of "grassroots" football, especially as Arsenal lost 3-1 to Villa.

We really need to get the form back, no excuse for not turning it on at LR.

posted on 17/8/13

Yeah, to be fair, looking at the stats they were fairly even, and as mentioned at London Road that should not be the case. Still winning when not playing well.

posted on 17/8/13

Shame that you didn't put those giants from the steel City away today. but it's a long old season.

posted on 18/8/13

Yes, our (Posh and, perhaps, Leeds) home forms need to improve, not least to attract the punters. Could it be that the closure of the Moyes Away Terrace in readiness for demolition is demotivating?

posted on 18/8/13

No problem, I've just ordered three thousand cardboard cut outs off e-bay, just need to work on the sound system..

Said sound system to play the new Britt Assombalonga* chant ...

* Wittily knick-named Assombalonganame by Champers on the Udders site.
