Lacking

Let's not panic here. I do agree abit. Been talking 2 some foxes fans and they have the same concern about their team. They think they were lucky with an own goal 1 nil win. We've a young squad who were edgy. I like forsyth but people were slating him. He knows he had a bad game. He doesn't need a fat middle aged burger eater to tell him that. Bad day at the office, move on. I didn't rate brighton last week but they have done ok 2day. Its a long season.

What 'big' players are you talking about?

You don't have any!!

posted on 17/8/13

Maybe not as big as andy reid, just remind reds when was the last time you beat us.

posted on 17/8/13

Ha ha desperate!

Don't care when the last time we beat you was, we are top of the league with no goals conceded! Not gonna wipe te smile off my face. In fact you losing has made it wider!

I'm with griff. No doubting its been a great start to the season. There is obviously a long long way to go but come on. As if your lot wouldn't be bleating if you was 3/3

Bad game, train cancelled on the way back and some Derby kids decided to jump a Leicester kid right in front of my 2 children...

Thought we were really sloppy today if our passing is off against physical opposition it's never gonna be pretty for us...but a good measuring stick, first team I think we've faced this season that will be challenging and we came up comfortably short IMO.

We needed some brute strength in the middle and up front as Hendrick, Hughes and Russell were struggling first half. However second half we absolutely battered Leicester and it was just down to weak finishing and good keeping on Leicester's behalf that resulted in all three points to them.

Had Leicester played the expected 3-5-2 formation than the diamond formation employed I believe would have been appropriate first half. But Leicester played 4-3-3 with aggression. Had we played better ball retention first half and tired the Leicester players out and hit them with 4-4-2 second half with possibly Ward and Jacobs or Ben Davies whipping the balls in and Martin and Sammon against their defenders it would have been a better battle against their defenders.

I think part of our problem against Leicester is that it's not considered a big game by the majority of our fans. The Leicester fans and consequently the players are always well up for this fixture and although being outworked is not an accusation you can often level at Clough's team it happens season after season against Leicester.

The formation was all wrong today. What works away against Brighton will not necessarily work at home to Leicester. The much lauded diamond was ineffective. It left us lacking width, yet somehow Leicester still bossed it in the middle of the park.

The misuse of Hughes was frustrating. He's our best player with the ball at his feet, maybe Brighton allowed him more space and time in their half, but that wasn't the case today and he spent the first hour ineffectually chasing down Leicester defenders. We looked much better once he was finally dropped into a deeper role. He saw a lot more of the ball and we actually started to build some attacks with direct passes through the center.

The substitutions should've come much sooner. I've been more sympathetic to Clough's dithering in the past as the low quality of players available on our bench often rendered substitutions redundant. Now we have the likes of Ward and Sammon warming the bench we should be much more proactive in games where things are obviously not going to plan.

Not sure we absolutely battered Leicester I thought they were worthy winners. The 4-3-3 of Leicester did put us off a little bit, but the amount of unforced errors from us was pretty impressive, Forsyth looks far better when Ward is in front of him and there were many times when he had no-one to pass to ahead of him.

I don't think we were brave enough passing forward behind their midfielders. For me Freeman and Bucko were the most consistent today in terms of not making silly mistakes. I could rant but like some people have said it's the first below par performance of the season so we'll see how we respond.

Poor performance I thought today, Leicester were too strong (physically) and too quick from minute 5 to minute 93. Hats off to Pearson for exposing the weaknesses of a diamond against a side playing 4-3-3 - we needed Hughes to exploit the gaps between defence & midfield which he failed to do effectively enough. Ward & Jacobs should have been on after 60 minutes, never mind 70 odd with a switch to 4-4-2.

Morgan (though I hate to admit it) & Moore were impeccable for Leicester today and Schlupp's pace allowed him to rectify any errors he made.

Disappointing day, but it's one game... we'll probably win at Yeovil next week...

Hindsight is 20/20 but I'd have taken Hughes off at half time put on Ward, then taken Martin off for Sammon and match their 4-3-3, possibly swapping Coutts for Eustace last 20mins and pushing Hendrick forward more. He always seems a far better player when someone is holding behind him, I wish Craig Bryson could shoot too.

wellies, where do you catch the train to? my train back to ambergate was cancelled and had a mare getting back home on clapped out bus. I saw the blood on the pavement and ambulance and police so I thought something had cracked off. I walked back with a bunch of foxes and there were gangs of derby fans looking to start trouble.
Clarky, I agree you have a right to enjoy the start, I'm playing the part of the rival fan like forest fans did when we won our 1st 4 2 years ago.

Today I thought we got a lesson in how you need to be physical. We missed a Steve Howard type up front and I never thought I'd say it, but I think we missed a savage type player in the middle. Someone who'd get in the mix and wind the opp. players up.
As I said a few days ago, there will be good and bad days in the 46 games. Last week was a good day, this week a bad day. On the otherhand I would of been happy with drawing at Brighton and drawing today, so with that in mind we are 1 point better off.

I wish Will Hughes had the same composure passing the ball into the net as he does passing it in the middle of the park. Shows his age when he's through on goal.

Bucko is the only weakness we have if you listen to some...

OOE, I think that's the worst I've seen Keogh play today. I though Bucko did alright against Nugent and Vardy

Very disappointed in Keogh,Forsyth,Bryson and Hughes today. I thought exactly as Milf that Ward and Jacobs should of been on about the hour mark...probably Sammon too. Hendrick carried our midfield today..that lad never stops impressing me. Take today on the chin and move on to Yeovil. League is over anyway..Forest have won it today. Apparently.

Matlock griff - did you get on the first bus or the one with the idiot driver who refused to drive because people were standing?

The fight was proper coward s~~t, 3/4 kids jumping on the boy when he's on the floor, it did seem like 15-17 yr olds, think the blood on the pavement was a scuffle further on down. Yeah seems like the lads were waiting for them by the Harvester.

Makes me mad when 1 teenager gets set on by 4/5 other teenagers and then trying to explain it to your 5 year old child, bunch of d***s.

Agree with Milf and you Griff, disappointed but a long way to go. Congrats to Forest on being top though, think I'll just take it on the chin for now we probably were gloating when Billy had us up there briefly.

Martin was carpe too Backo and Coutts seems unfit to me....sorry said I wasn't going to moan.

Backo I had us down for 1 win, 2 draws and a defeat from the 1st 4 games.
Billy needs as much of an head start as possible before he bottle's it

Martin was taking a lot of the physical stuff I thought 2W. Martin and Coutts were our best players last week at Brighton. That's football. Seen us play a lot worse and the goal was poxy.
