Dembele is surely ahead of Capoue in the pecking order? I rate dembele highly after he destroyed us at old Trafford for Fulham
Plus, soldado = Drogba
didnt mourinhos chelsea win the league? i am sure we can find better things to complain about than being modelled on a title winning side...
Soldado not very similar to Drogba, fair enough. My main point is it looks like AVB doesn't think we need classic Spurs style creative midfield players a la modric, gazza, hoddle etc.
modric was nothing like gazza or hoddle...
modric was a deep lieing playmaker
If you organise a well disciplined, balanced, hardworking, talented, motivated and selfless side you don't need 'flair players' or 'creativity'. Mourinho's sides are generally a testament to this, as well as a few of Fergie's. Flair players are pleasing on the eye, but aren't always effective
Modric may have been deep lying, but still more skillful than any of the current midfield and made the whole team tick.
Bale is staying. I'm ITK.

was he making us tick when we threw away that ten point lead?
modric was a good player but lets not pretend he ran the show for us all season. more often than not he was good, a lot of the time he went missing just like everyone else
I have to admit, I see where you're coming from OP
Your CMs are all great engines and will no doubt cover a lot of ground and provide excellent cover for your defence
Dembele, Pualinho, Cotoue, Sandro are all either defensive mids or box to box CMs, physically big yet none are playmakers
If you keep Bale and Soldado is the goal scorer you guys were crying out for, you might not need a playmaker in the middle. bale and Lennkn will create more than enough chances to win most games
If paulinho, soldado, chadli, bale start pinging in the goals I won't care if we have an 'effective' midfield to be fair. But if this sort of 4-3-3 is the model I don't expect us to sign Pjanic or any other attacking midfielders we might be linked with.
Agreed OP I said a while ago he seems to be making his Chelsea side rather than his Porto one.. makes sense really

If anything, Soldado is more like Gudjohnsen...which actually fits in with your theory.
Please don't compare us with them. They make me sick

The main component of Chelsea's system, they chain who helped it all work, was Drogba. He was a powerhouse of a CF, held it up, could fight off two CBs at times and was a fantastical aerial threat for their wingers to aim for.
This is where the comparison falls apart. Soldado is about 5'10 and won less aerial duels in the CL than Defoe wins in the much more physical PL.
