Although I wouldn't have Fellaini or Baines at the top of my list, a half decent () CM and a very good, English defender. £40m would be a very good deal.
I would still want another CM though, I don't see Fellaini as the answer.
I think Moyes let the clause run out because he thought he could get Fellaini cheaper
IMWT.
Really. With new tv money coming in?
Sure, he is a shrewd business man.
That worries me, 20 odd mill on a nearly 30 yr old left back with no sell on value, fergie's "no value in the market" quote springs to mind.
Hell fire a football players career is short, but you make it a hell of a lot shorter. He ain't 29 yet,and you claim he's nearly 30. How old was RVP when Utd bought him?
I seriously don't think Moyes decided on this joke of an offer, he just identified the targets to the Man Utd board.......They then had a loooong business lunch, drank too much vino, ate far too many prawn sandwiches and talked about how great they all were before arrogantly coming to the conclusion that 28m is fair price for arguably the worlds best LB And, yes AND one of the best midfielders in PL.
They must are either completely out of touch with the market, lack basic business acumen, or perhaps more likely have their heads stuck up their own ar$e$.
Either way its all very embarrassing for Man U fans.
I hope Everton refuse to do any business with Man Utd, we should not sell for 40m or even 50m due their complete lack of respect to our great club.

Ok nearly 29, it's nearer 30 to 20 anyway.
As for RVP, he was 29,but we were getting a very special player there, a snip at £24m
And baines is a very special player.
Completely different level, RVP would get into most teams in the world, baines would not.
Beg to differ Earl. You don't watch Baines enough...
Its funny how people define class by possibly one moment a game after not being involved (RVP similar to Cantona in that respect)
Baines is heavily involved and provides moments of magic but is dismissed as he is a defender!
How do you feel about other attcking fullbacks?
Cafu (you will be too young to remember him)
Cole
Lahm
Or how about Irwin, Uniteds best buy under Fergie in my opinion.

He's certainly up there of course but there are a few ahead of him
6 years and a 67 million pound profit on Ronaldo?
500k for the best keeper I have ever seen?

certainly would'nt go a penny over £12m for baines, he's decent but hes no evra/cole.
He's better than both.

what's so funny??
He's getting picked ahead of Cole for England and Man U want to sign him to replace Evra. So yes, its fair to say he's better than both.
Dunc, your doing it wrong, you aren't allowed to say anyone is better than any united player even if we all know its true!
Loz is Cole a Utd player?
Baines is a decent player and like G Nev said yesterday, would be a good understudy to Evra.
Err mud weren't you laughing at the comment that baines is better than evra/cole ?

It's going to be about 40 million to get them

Agree with that
Pretty sure Everton will want at least that for the pair. 40m could be spent better elsewhere in my opinion
