I agree with your point about henderson and i would expect that position to see a different face almso week in week out given the running required. Id expect hendo and allen to alternate with alberto getting the cup games.
i actually cant wait to see what a lot of us on here haven't even mentioned yet and that is Alberto, plus he is in my ff lol.
been impressed with him in pre season, just hope he brings the same to prem games.
Stoke game was frustrating for the finishing, but first game, and hopefully as the games go on we put more and more chances away.
be more worried if we wasn't creating chances, finishing maybe a problem esp games you get a couple and that's it, but this type of game before we would have drawn or lost in the past,so onwards and upwards.
The role that Henderson and Allen play requires them to get goals. Henderson had 2 good chances to score, 1st half the keeper saved and 2nd half a save on the post.
You could say he was unlucky in those situations but if we want 4th spot, those are the type of oppurtunities we need to put away.
Imagine if we had a left footed player in both of them positions which is what BR is looking for, we may have had a different outcome.
Nevertheless, Henderson put a real shift in against Stoke and made numerous interceptions which shouldn't go unnoticed.
We really need to make our chances count.
my own opinion on alberto is he's got a decent technical standard (for a spanish player which menas he's well baove an english player) but he's not a coutinho and i think he needs time to settle and find a role.
I also totally agree that this "running man" role does require either allen or henderson to get goals, to get in the box... .that or be the guy supplying aspas if he's the one gone inside.
I see fast breask with henderson coutinho and sturrdige this year getting us goals... especially where teams press up and allow space for these three.
Bringing in a more offensive left back in Cissoko is important and fits in with what I think BR wants.
The full backs will provide the width and having players who can utilise this space effectively is important. Enrique is excellent defensively, but when we are trying to break down a stubborn defence we needed a bit more attacking nous. The wing forwards this season should hopefully score a few more because they should be in and around the box a bit more, with the fullbacks providing the natural width.
yes i think that enrique hung back a little compared to johnson. we'll see how that developes cissohko is in now and will push enrique hard
Overall it was pretty perfect vs stoke, clean sheet, 1st game won, newbie goalie saves a pen, aspas was very clever, gerrard solid, hendo mr duracell and helped out tracking and disposing stoke of the ball, lucas everywhere, johnson and enrique attacking threats, sturridge 1 game 1 goal, kolo hits the bar, suarez yet to play and the front 3 (aspas, sturridge, coutinho) were everywhere changing positions and all were a threat.
You want more goals.....still have suarez in reserve
Henderson is back on the bench once we get a proper wide forward/Suarez returns and Coutinho moves to the centre
Hendo's got goals in him. I think he's going to make the step up
i can't see rodgers play what is in effect a 4-2-4 if coutinho is in for hendo to accommodate suarez. against some teams maybe... but not so many.
