The true test for any club is to maintain consistent profit whilst genuinely challenging for top honours!
Wright-->Bergkamp-->Henry-->RVP 1991-2012
during these 12 years they have:
won europa league twice and followed them up by winning the super cup
won copa del rey once, finished runners up once and reached the semis twice
as well as finishing consistently in or around the ucl places apart from 04-05, 05-06 and 10-11
We were spoilt for a long time
ian wright in for 2.5
bergkamp in for 7.5
henry in for 11 out for 20
rvp in for 3 out for 24
spent: 24
received: 44
profit 20
not quite the same for business and between 2005 and 2012 what did arsenal win?
although i admit before 2006 the buys were definetly returning good.
i think its safe to say that porto are in a league of their own when it comes to buying cheap, winning things and selling high
I watched Atletico at the weekend. They were impressive and Costa outstanding. Villa was crap though.
La liga has produced no good players outside of Barcelona and Real Madrid over the last 10 years. You compare that to the PL, where we have brought through proper class players like Silva, Torres, Aguero, Mata, Negredo, Navas, Soldado, the list goes on, shows how much better the PL is at bringing through talent, and not relying on signing players from other leagues like Barca and Real do.
I was talking more about the quality of the strikers rather than their eventual transfer value, arguably RVP was the only one of the 4 who left at his peak.

People say that, but it's largely because of the relax Portuguese rules on 3rd party ownership. It might look like Porto make a fair wedge from their sales, but a lot of the time most of the money is going elsewhere.
spurs do count, you only need look at their net spend for the past 3/4 years to see they fleece idiots like lfc, utd, real for keane, borbaflo, modric and reinvest very wisely indeed
