SPOILER BELOW!!
Agree with all of that, but I actually quite liked the ending, thought they were right to go that way (trying to avoid spoilers) rather than a stereotypical save the world ending i.e. they save humanity, save the world etc etc.
Also, thought the game was massively influenced by Children of Men - if you've seen it?
Played it, thought it was okay. Didn't think it was anywhere near as good as many have hyped it up to be. But then again I'm not a fan of these linear story/movie games, although I do love the Uncharted Series.
Far too linear and the ending was stupid - it made you think you had a choice but actually whatever you did it finished the same way.
Good game, would probably be GOTY if it wasn't for GTA5 coming out soon, which will inevitably take that prize.
Chris have you played Tomb Raider? You talk about the fun of the game and i concur The last of Us is a very very good game, better than Tomb Raider overall, but i had just a little bit more fun playing Tomb Raider.
Simon,
Yeah, very much enjoyed Tomb Raider, was pleasantly surprised as haven't really liked one since the PS1 incarnations.
Was a different type of game to previous ones, a mix of Splinter Cell Convinctions and Last of Us.
Anyone played the new Splinter Cell yet?
I do think now the ending was decent
They've left the door open for a sequel, I can see it when Ellie is around 30, Joel on his deathbed says he lied, the virus has further developed, she goes out looking for a cure
Yeah, I think sometimes we always want every question answered and every problem solved, but it was quite a cool ending, didn't really see it coming to be honest. I actually thought when Joel said about there being dozens of other "immune" people, that I'd missed something in the video's or something.
Doesn't hurt them that they've left it open for a sequel also.
Havent played the new splinter cell yet chris, and with GTA V in a few weeks i might wait for a sale. Has had some nice reviews and i like the fact they have taken the Dishonoured style game play in which you can choose how to play - stealthy like old skool splinter cell or a bit more gun ho. But like i said with a few games to finish and some new ones on the horizon time is my biggest problem
Ah also if you guys havent heard there is a Last of Us DLC being announced soon.
The ending seems disappointing when playing the game, but when you think about it later it makes more sense.
Firstly there is the emotional side to Joel and Ellie's relationship, and Joel couldn't let her die which is what people talk about mostly.
The main reason(For me at least) though is people think the Fireflys are the saviors of the world, when they're not, they would use the cure for themselves to get more powerful. Why if they new the cure would they do it for free? There is also no guarantee that they would have got the cure.
The ending wasn't happy but wasn't too dark either, and it also left the story open for a sequel, so I have no problems with it
