Baines is so overrated its unbelievable. he struggles against the top players. put messi, ronaldo, robben, ribery etc against him and he would get eaten for breakfast

Players like Jones, Smalling, Cleverley, Welbeck and Young are in the England squad. Let that sink if for a moment.

That old myth that Baines can't defend.

Put the best players in the world up against pretty much any left back and they'd be eaten for breakfast.

How many left backs can score the goal he scored against Cardiff in the FA cup last season?!?

Erm you mean Swansea?

there are two decent players in Cole and Baines.

You answer your own question, there are two better players in his position.

The best left backs in the world over the last 10 years;

Ashley Cole when he was at Arsenal,
then Clichy when Cole left,
then Gibbs when Clichy left

=============================

This pretty much sums it up

Kamran

Gibbs can actually pass the ball too

Gibbs is a decent left back though. He needs to stay fit and add consistency. The stuff the Arsenal fans say about him is laughable, though.

Walcott is in the squad, headless chicken. Cleverly managed to handle hazard, oscar, lampard, ramires, de bruyne. Jones and Smalling dont get ripped by agbonolahor and make silly mistakes every game like kos

welbeck is better for england than rooney ,I hope he keeps playing if he can keep scoring

I don't think that Baines and Cole are that far ahead of Gibbs. In terms of potential he has it and there are some really poor players in the squad ie Milner and co.

He should at least be given the chance.

Here we go, club v club wars again.

comparing Walcott to Cleverley and Jones and Smalling to Kos delusion at its finest.

would rather the england team sorted out a number 2 in goal rather than working out a 3rd choice leftback

What a silly comment. Yesterday's game was a joke, they played for a point from the start so don't give me that. They didn't even play with a striker so there was no attacking threat. Cleverley is just an average midfielder. That is it

thanks Kelly, i meant Swansea

United fans are quick to laugh at Arsenal fans who claim that we have world class players

Im guessing ist cos we havent won a trophy for years
.
But we all remember United fans stating that Anderson was better than Cesc
Or that Rooney was better than RVP

But now its not even up for debate.

Just like for years people were ridiculing Theo, but look at him now compared to Valencia or even Nani.

Koscienly & Mert also get stick but eventually people will realize their quality.

Gibbs on the other hand is a no brainer, the guy is technically excellent especially for an English defender.

People wonder why Arsenal fans get such a poor reputation. Just look at the comments from some on this thread.

Recon in a year or two Gibbs will be away to Madrid anyway in a £200m deal...

I would argue Cleverly is above average considering he has won the premier league played well against Real Madrid, you cant be average to play against them.

I just think its stupid to say he doesnt deserve to be in the England squad, when he clearly is good enough. He isnt good enough to start but a good squad player.

every time i've seen Gibbs he's been shoi'te, not even in the top 10 left backs in England

posted on 27/8/13

It would be stupid to take more than 2 left backs. Cole and Baines are still two of the best left footed wing backs in the world but Gibbs isn't quite at that level.

Good player but there's better and you can't call him a youngster anymore, Shaw is more than likely to take Cole's place in the squad. It's a bit unfair but it happens when there's high competition for places.

name 10 better

Hopefully Rev turns up soon

I'll laugh if Cole or Baines gets an injury just before the WC and Gibbs is called up. He would then get the blame for not being used to his defensive partners

His day will come ! I TELL YOU !!

English players are crap

we need more foreigners in the national side

just get some slags from Moss Side or Tower Hamlets to marry some south americans and we can forgoe this development farce

posted on 27/8/13

Nobody has said Gibbs is bad. Well some have, but most people acknowledge he's a good defender just that Baines and Cole have proven over many years that they are better.

Gibbs has potential, but you lot act like he's the best fullback in the league. The caaants never even played a full season in the premier league so don't talk such rubbish.
