I think most people are of the opinion that Levy agreed to sell Bale to Madrid at the start of the transfer window, but asked that it go through at the end so that he could spend the cash without being held to ransom by other clubs.

Obviously nobody can be sure how correct this is but it's a theory I like and one I can see Mr Levy employing.

Just out of interest, what was the increase in TV money for this season? Could this be a factor?

Where did you hear that? I refuse to believe it

The reason has a name: Gareth Bale

And transfers don't get paid in great big lump sums up-front nowadays. Much of the fees are paid in installments

Bale £90 million (roughly)
Caulker £9 million
Hudd £5 million

Who else has gone? Anyone know? BAE will probably go for around £7ish mill. Either way, we're not spending money we don't have. It's all come from player sales.... and we haven't finished yet!

It will only be the same though. Bale will have to be sold for over £90M. If not, you've got some debt to still pay off because the Bank are going to be asking for more than what you have loaned out. If you've loaned out more than £90M, well, don't think Bale will get rid of that.

Its quite unbelievable to think we have managed to sign -

Lamela, (30m) Soldado, (26m) Paulinho, (17m) Chadli (9m) and Capoue (8m) Total - 90m

By Selling Bale for approx 90m

Thats is incedible business by Levy and co.

We have also made about 23 m by selling caulker, dempsey, parker and Huddlestone.

Chiriches will come in for about 8m that leaves 15m left to get one more in (Erikkson ???)

Unbelievable !!!

Also a tidy £4m windfall from GDS transfer to Villarreal to add to the coffers, 50% sell on fee

Assuming Chiriches, then I would like Eriksen and another target man type striker, providing we can sell Adebarndoor.

Bridge being the other big earner off the books.

+ the new players not being on inflated wages.

LRF - Levy obviously needs some negotiating and financial planning lessons from you. Should give him a call

Lets look at the figures: Around £24m selling outgoing players. £54m from Sky last season plus £10m for finishing 5th. So that is £88m so far, add the £90m for Bale makes a total of £178m..............................

Outgoings Lamela £30m (although I think it might be Euros??) Soldado £26m, Paulinho £17m Capoue £8m, Chadli £9m, this makes a grand total of £90m which leaves us with a net gain of £88m and still possibly another £25m on two players which will leave us a final net gain of £63m! Simple really!!

"All Levy has to do now is announce the stadium build will start next week"

That will be some time in October (new Sainsburys open, payment down for foundations excavation work) .
