Boring? Did you watch your last League game?
Haha I thought you were a United fan wumming...sorry my bad.
Here is what the problem is -
Too many players brought in , hoping that they will turn out to be the dogs bolox.
We had a nucleus of players (and not that long ago) that we could field the likes of Alonso, Masch, Gerrard, Torres, Reina, Agger, Carragher.
But instead of spending £25 -30m on one player we spend it on 4 or 5.
When it doesn't work out and we slip further down the league table these players then get their heads turned.
They see mediocre players coming in and not top quality.
See Utd for further evidence.
I'm not saying it works with every purchase but if we had the backbone (lik the owners have done with Suarez) and said to Alonso & Masch you're not going, we'd now have -
Torres,
Suarez,
Gerrard,
Mascherano,
Alonso,
Sturridge,
Coutinho,
Agger.
Lets hope we keep our players now and add real quality, we dont need much.
that's all well and good for a CL side Red 5, but it doesn't work for 3rd tier, non-CL sides like us
we need to gamble more

The thing is after the 2005 CL final we weren't 3rd tier.
We were one of the top seeded sides in Europe.
We then brought in 14 players, Crouch being the most expensive at £7m !!
We spent £35m !
We should have then gone for 2 players - £20m + £15m.
Remember these little gems - Gonzalez, Zenden, Barragan, Antwi,Hobbs, Anderson, Kromkamp, David Martin (free) ????
That's not forgetting the 08/09 Season when brought in,
Dossena, Degen, Cavalieri, Keane £19m , N'gog & Vitor Flora !
I have no idea what you're talking about unless you're criticising 2005 transfer poilcy
Come to think of it, Brendan is doing exactly what rafa did (which worked out brilliantly)
Keep the core quality and experience, bring in multiple medium priced players who fit the side, and add one first choice, long term buy per season.
we added depth first, then added first choice targets over time until their was nearly a fixed starting XI.
It took a few seasons but this looks the same approach to me. And it got us back to the top of the food chain last time so it's got a proven record.
"That's not forgetting the 08/09 Season when brought in, "
that was when the former owners started asset stripping and we started our decline.

Buying mediocre and not quality is where we've been going wrong for the last 10 years.
Buying one good 'un and 7/8 average squad fillers is no good.
If the owners (which in fairness all have done so) spend money, then spend it on quality.
People on here say, yes but we're not in the CL to attract top quality, but we were after our CL win and who did we bring in ?
Too much bloody tinkering!
rubbish
nonsense
"Buying one good 'un and 7/8 average squad fillers is no good."
this made us the top ranked side in Europe and was the key to everything good that happened under Rafa
It went wrong when all the mid priced depth was sold off to pay for the owners debt and we were left with a top, top class XI and nothing else. Injuries hit and we dropped out of the top 4.
You're recommending we go all out for no depth and all first XI. Which is the exact reason we're in the situation we're in today.
Any injuries and you plummet down the table. N'Gog becomes your week in week out first choice striker (sorry david, you did your best but we needed a top4 match winner and that didn't happen for you)

No it didn't.
We got lucky in 2005.
Everything went our way.
Olympiakos come back,
Garcia "ghost "goal,
Dudek double Shevchenko save.
Then transfers were poor (to a certain extent).
We sold Baros and kept Cisse !
We bought Crouch & Bellamy ! (Bellamy good but Crouch ?)
We sold Morientes !
And brought in 7 players for a combined fee of £240,000 !!!!!!!
Where are those 7 now ?
And your remark about N'gog ? He was second choice !
Second for God's sake !
See what rubbish we bought and still 2nd choice.
If we spent like I said we should have, he wouldn't have even been here.
Terrible transfer policy, it happens all the time with a new manager coming in.
Let me know where all of Rafa's free purchases and his £1 - £3m purchases are now ?
That was a little hard on Crouch but nonetheless never a striker to set fear among Europe's elite !
RGK will owe me an apology article in a few days as he assured me Arsenal will be spending BIG.
He claimed that they could spend £50m on one player or break their own transfer record twice in this window.
loooooooooooooooooooool
^ I think he will have to apoligise to 99% of ja606 for his idiocy.
He still wearing his Suarez moniker ffs
RGK posted on an article that he would eat his own pôo if Arsenal signed Flamini. I've bookmarked it just in case.
Red 5 is on crack but RGK is an out and out sociopath
I think we may have seen Red 5 before
is Red 5 Lettuce, shortlight, or Fellainis?
