But worth 80million
Thanks Real

They may pay that, but is he actually worth it ?
We paid £35m for Carroll, was he worth that amount ?
Same - David Bentley.
Better off digging up Derek Bentley !

re Gareth Feckin Bale. Don't get me wrong great player. But before December-ish not 1 single person would have claimed he was 3rd best player in the world. Now everyone seems to have the opinion that only Messi and Ronaldo are better than him.
Well done Daniel Levy inventing a hype machine. £80m+, well played.

Also Kaka...not the Milan one but the one that turned up at RM.
Massive Flop. Also felt that Vincente Rodriguez - had the talent to be a Giggs/Recoba but have massively unfulfilled his potential.
My number one though is our own Wayne Rooney, granted the records show he has arguably been the best striker for the best part of Five seasons in the PL but when he broke out he had the talent to be talked about in the same breath as Messrs Messi and CR.
But to the a combination of ill-discipline, personality, mental cravenness et al...he has massively under performed.
Rooney's apologists would no doubt his veritable accomplishments but i say we could have been looking at one of the outstanding talents of world football and the outstanding English player of his generation not the denuding, roly-poly tub of lard that stands before us today.
Do recall Chris Kirkland being tipped to become one of best keepers in world during his late teens too.
El Hadji Diouf, after his WC performance with Senegal. Didn't he cost Liverpool over £10m?
Denilson, Adu, Ramsey, Hulk, Alves (remember him?), Kezman, Mutu, Veron, Berba (good as he is, £30m he cost).
I fear the likes of Wilshere, Hart, Jones and other yojng Englishman will fall into this category. Good players, but not all they're hyped up to be.
There are loads.

I'd say that is fair enough about Rooney. By most standards he has had a very good career. But measured against his natural talent he has fallen short. Even as late as 2007 I thought he was probably a better and more important player for us than Ronaldo. It's a great illustration of the importance of hard work and determination in making a great sportsman.
Cassano I'd put in a special list of outrageous talents whose attitude let them down.
Kaká at Madrid evidently, but there were signs already at the end of his Milan days that he was no longer the player he'd been.
Vicente as I said earlier, can only feel sorry for him. He didn't 'fail to live up' and much as never had the chance to. Shame of a career.
Quaresma had been flopping long before he came to Chelsea.
Litmanen. Ajax made him look great, but he was never really that much imo.
mr chelsea who did you buy queresma from? benfica?
Aaron Lennon, Samir Nasri, Sergio Cannales
winston bogarde? he went to chelsea as a respected international fullback didnt he?
Joe Hart (still young though)
Litmanen

Disagree
chronic Chelsea did not buy him, he was on loan from Inter for season
queresma at chelsea has to be up there

Disagree. Arrived on loan and only played about four games as Guus Hiddink didn't fancy him as much as Scolari. SWP is more appropriate.
