I'd put Garay on the bench as I don't want him to have an Evra style debut.

Viva - everyone struggles against Van Persie!

I can't see us keeping a clean sheet tbh which means to win the game we'll have to score 2 or 3.

I reckon we might go with:

---------------------Mignolet--------------------
Johnson-----Toure------Agger----Enrique
---------------Lucas----Gerrard-------------
Sterling-----------Henderson------Coutinho
-------------------Sturridge------------------

Skrtel (fitness permitting) if Toure doesn't make it.

Possibly Aspas instead of Sterling but he looked good mid-week so I expect both will play a decent chunk of the game.

Sterling Work, agree with you totally on that.

The thought of Toure being injured is quite worrying; Rooney trying to win the fans back & RvP coming off the back of a fantastic season. Our CBs might get away with 1, maybe 2 mistakes, but any more than that they'll score.

Hopefully all the players who played the full 120 midweek are rested; i.e. Gerrard at around the 75min mark...

...What?

Why?

They're professional athletes. If they can't play 210 minutes of football in 5 days then they aren't athletes.

It's not that they can't play 210 minutes, more that they'll be playing against players who didn't play 210 minutes.

It doesn't matter how fit you are, when up against fresher footballers you will always come up short.

Did Rooney pass to RVP when they played Chelsea?

As Robb said, its not playing for 210mins, its playing 210mins at the top of your game...

They should already be fresh. It'll be 5 days. Not 5 minutes.

I done a 2hr workout this morning, including a 30min run. I could play an extremely intense 90 minute match right now. And it's like 30-40 degrees where I am right now.

Okay, say you and a guy of similar fitness are running a marathon tomorrow.

Imagine that the other guy ran a marathon on Wednesday but you didn't.

Who do you think will have a better chance of winning tomorrows marathon?

posted on 30/8/13

Footballers usually only run around 8 miles maximum a match. More than likely less. In marathons, you cover far more than that.

Plus if we average out 8miles over 90 minutes, that is around 1 miles every 11 minutes. At that rate, it would take someone running a marathon nearly 5 hours to complete it (26 miles). The world record is 2 hours.

The intensity is completely different.

5 days is more than long enough for a full recovery

I would much rather see Wisdom in at CB than Gerrard. Gerrard needs to be in the midfield.
