Stronger than United

We were rubbish last year you should compare to this year.

United's CB's are much better, Vidic is beast, Rio is good together they are still the best CB paring in the world.

We have a better GK, better defence, and striker but much worse midfield.

Ozil aside you've got the exact same team that scraped 4th haven't you?

Chelsea have improved their squad, as have City.

We have stood still I'll admit, although I do think fellaini will stop us being overrun as much.

But I can't see how you've suddenly got a much greater chance than last year? What if you get 2 or 3 injuries?

People still need to realise that

Nani Rooney Kagawa
RVP

Is scary good.

Hahahahaha! Don't get giddy over one signing!
You think you're stronger than united with your CB pairing and keeper??

Jesus 1 wc mf does not make a massive difference. We are still short of ay least 2 players.

Rio is getting old, they've got a new LB who will need time to adapt, it's definitely not as strong as it once was

...

Ferdinand is a washed up no-mark.

You may quote me on that.

With the exception of GK and ST, we've got to be stronger in pretty much every other area of the park than them.
.................................................

GK
RB
LB
CB
CB

Don't know that I would swap Nani for Walcott, Walcott was the better player last season for sure but in previous years Nani has been pretty good.... on previous form I would still have Nani over him...

Rooney and RVP as well obviously....

Can't say I would swap our sitting midfielder for yours... Carrick>Arteta...

Would also say we have the stronger bench and reserves as well....

Better than United everywhere else though.

The usual for Arsenal I reckon.... 4th/5th battle with Spurs.

1 WORLD CLASS midfielder, a strong DM in Flamini, Rambo who is now turning into a great player and we have a solid defence. I think our team is a lot closer to Man U's than a lot of you are giving us credit for

...

Unless Spurs are planning on getting a penalty in every game of the season, I don't see that happening.

GK = Man U
LB & RB = Arsenal
CD = Man U (just)
DM = Man U
LW = Santi therefore Arsenal
RW = Arsenal
2 x MC = Arsenal (just)
AMC = Arsenal!
SC = Man U

Strength in depth goes to Man U
Better Manager goes to Arsenal

Arsenal 7 - 6 Man U

Arsenal have the weakest defence in the top 6.
United have the best.

Vidic, Ferdinand, Jones, Smalling, Evan, Evra, Contrao, Rafael and Fabio.

Arsenal:
Koscheiny, Mertesacker, Vermalen, Sagna, Gibs, Monreal and Jenkinson

Only 3 senior CBs

posted on 3/9/13

I really see much difference in the defences ignoring the keeper

throw de Gea in and United win hands down, but the defenders... well Vidic is class but apart from that I feel Arsenal have the better full backs and the next best CD is Koscielny, not Rio, Evans or Smalling

I still think it's far too early to say whether we're better than United, as man for man, it is tight but United do have more experienced winners in their side and it is a team game. Honestly though regardless of who they brought in, I expected them to finish no lower than 3rd.

De Gea > Chesney
Rafael > Sagna
Vidic > Mertesacker
Ferdinand < Koscielny
Evra/Buttner < Gibbs/Monreal
Carrick > Flamini
Cleverley < Ramsey/Wilshere
Kagawa/Giggs < Ozil/Cazorla
Welbeck < Walcott
van Persie > Giroud
Rooney > Podolski/Bendtner

Why don't we just resort to the usual combined teams?

Mine would look something like:

GK - a close call but De Gea probably edges it
RB - Sagna
CBs - any two of Mertesacker, Koscielny or Vidic. Rio is on his way over the hill.
LB - Evra
CMs - Ramsey and Arteta
CAM - Ozil, I like Kagawa but United have wasted him
LW - probably Cazorla
RW - Walcott over Nani any day
ST - RVP.

It's much closer than last year - I think Arsenal will be picking up more points in those '6-pointers' which will make the league far tighter towards the top

I'm interested to see how Moyes deploys the team with Fellaini coming into the fold. Will it be a more direct style of play?

posted on 3/9/13

We will just get fellaini to elbow ozil probably.

posted on 3/9/13

That is one of the most biased things I have read on this site...

De Gea just edges it?

Sagna over Rafael?

Arteta over Carrick?

Win something... Then maybe you can claim to having a stronger squad.
UTD won the league by a country mile with these players. Arsenal have to prove themselves to the champions and everyone else. Win something.
End of May. Lets see...

posted on 3/9/13

Yeah but StringerBell that means I have to wait until the earliest of February and the latest of May before I can even talk about it?

that's just boring!

posted on 3/9/13

In fairness though V us United fans hear a lot of this our team is better than yours talk (or we have more in an XI ect.) for years now....

For years we have been finishing above you and generally doing better than you as well....

By all means talk but have something real to base it on.

I hear you, but I don't make the rules.
That's when the trophies are handed out.
And surely you learnt that after beating spurs, a weaker team can have it's day.
As you saw Liverpool do a job on us the other day...

But you know what I'm saying. Holding a trophy at the end. Saying you're number 1.
No one can dispute it. No witty comebacks. Facts is facts.
E.G. Man Utd - Champions. Nuff said.

We once had a squad with Veron and Van Nistlerooy. That alone beats most teams on paper.
Didn't really work out did it?
But makes for a cracking season, cos I'm a glass is half full kinda guy, I see it as teams desperately needed to reinforce after UTD walked the Title last term.
Maybe the playing field has evened out...
We at UTD love a challenge...

posted on 3/9/13

It's gonna be an interesting season anyway. Would love to be able to look forward and see what happens but that would rather spoil it all

Man U probably are still stronger than us but I'm just feeling pretty good about the Arsenal team right now

posted on 3/9/13

I think you have made some improvements and will be a better team for it

I think the really exciting thing for Arsenal fans is that transfer windows should now become something to enjoy for Arsenal fans rather than dread as I expect more buying and less selling from them over the next few years.
