Mesut Ozil.
Santi Cazorla.
Olivier Giroud.
Jack Wilshere.

Just think about that foursome.

Sorry Kamran. It's being realistic. How can you believe a team that won the title last season and haven't lost any top player would suddenly just crash. And at the expense of a team like ours. If we kept the players we had in the 2011/2012 season - including RVP and Song - and added Cazorla, Podolski, Giroud, Monreal and Ozil, we would have a title contending squad now. But we simply don't, since we were too myopic at the time to see the bigger picture and sold important players.

Ramsey--wilshere (rosicky/ arteta/ flamini)
Walcott--Ozil--cazorla
Giroud

In terms of our midfield I don't see how any united players would get in. Only rvp would get in up front.
Would Rooney get in ahead of Ozil or cazorla. I don't think so.

They are probably only just better in defence. But it's very close. The main difference is RVP.

Not saying we're better. But the gap is definitely closing a lot.

Song was cack, and RVP does NOT make that much of a difference.

Giroud is going to have an RVP-like season, of this I am so, so sure.

Man for man, imo we have better players. But they're still a better team than us, and that's what counts. They will be until we do something of note.

But now's not really the right time to discuss this, just enjoy Ozil

You think he'll spend the season crocked!

Some rival fans must have felt Shankly was irreplaceable for Liverpool - right until a certain Paisley who didn't have the same charisma prove to be far more succesful. The prediction of their demise under Moyes may turn out to be a desperate wish rather than reality.

United's midfield and wingers are nothing special at all, wouldn't take any of them.

Is this guy for real? What planet have you been on the past 2 seasons? RVP won't make much of a difference?

I think the Arsenal guys are getting a bit carried away (to be fair I dont blame them Ozil is a great player).

However this is practically the same team that finished 4th last year and is still lacking in depth.

Ozil will be a great addition but you are still thin on options up front.

United have not lost any of the squad from last year that won the league by a large margin and arguably we've added a bit of muscle to our lightweight midfield.

Time will tell I suppose

i do not think teams respect manchester united anymore in terms of playing against them now a certain cockroach face has gone teams can have go witout fear of being screwed over by the refs wanting to appease fergie and not get in his bad books.

Messi has had plenty of crap games. Means fack all about his quality. United were very laboured in their build-up and he couldn't do it alone.

Van Persie is a pensioner. Trust me they are on the decline and in a battle with Spurs for fourth.

Sheriff, a realistic Arsenal fan... respect

Those who keep their cool when everyone around them is losing their heads deserve extra credit.

Just a quick poll.... how many Arsenal fans expect they will finish above United now?

That isn't could or will, that is expect they will, or fancy their chances to say it another way.

The majority of you?

Just a few?

50/50?

I honestly don't know what to expect from United this season.

We could give Nani and Kagawa a run of games leading them coming good. Or we could stick with Young, Valencia and Giggs and continue to be boring. RVP can win a game out of nothing, but can also be anonymous, like on Sunday.

What I think we have in our favour, is that in Evans, Rio, Vidic, De Gea, Evra, Rooney and Carrick we have a spine of consistent players. Even a player like Hernandez can make a huge difference over a season.

United and Arsenal have both addressed long-standing issues this summer (midfield and star quality respectively), but neither to the extent that they could have done. Fellaini is underwhelming and Ozil does not play in a position Arsenal needed to strengthen.

I can't see Arsenal making up 16 points on us, even with SAF gone.
