You have to admire Doyle. A true and loyal professional in an age where most are mercenaries. Hope he has a great year leading us to promotion.
I had just cut the address to this article so I could do a Tara!
A good read and confirms what a lot of fans have thought about the Doyle situation. The club has certainly treated him very differently from the four horsemen despite him being on comparable or how wages. Further evidence of behind the scenes wrong doing from RJ, Hollywood, KHFC and Wardinho.
Great attitude from Doyle and it shows in the way he has been playing on the pitch. Still think he can be a massive help in developing Griffiths and Siggy as they have the potential to match his career in domestic and international football. Sure the crowd reaction has helped settle him down at wolves as well this season.
Doyler looks like he is enjoying his football again and he didn't give that impression last season particularly in the latter stages of the Solbakken era.
He is a quality player and a front four of Doyle, Griffiths, Sako and either Ismael or Sigurdarson should ensure we end up at the top of this division
I cannot speak highly enough of Doyle, I think the guy is an absolute legend. An excellent and often under-appreciated player and a really good guy.
In the interests of fairness though, Karl Henry should be noted as somebody who was very vocal about wanting to stay and put the wrongs right.
In the interests of fairness though
Like that has an impact here
Henry said a lot of things. Every bloody week.
Absolutely UH, part of that comes from being captain and part of it from seeing himself as the voice of the squad and part, I'm sure, comes from the E&S hounding him for soundbites because they knew he'd give them.
Regardless though, the article was about people wanting to put it right and Henry even went so far as to say he didn't want to move in order to put it right.
I thought Doyle's point was interesting about tiring of relegation battles and the idea that he could join someone, have a rubbish year and end up in the same league as us next year anyway.
Just read the end of your article again perton, where did Swain say that? Any guesses?
That has to be one of the best articles I've ever read by a footballer. Eloquent, modest and uplifting.
I'm so pleased he will be staying with us, and this suggests he may still be here beyond January. I do believe Karl Henry would have had the same attitude but would probably not have been able to express himself quite so well in print.

Did he bullocks cyp.
Good god ....here we go name calling again....deleted.
He did say it Perton, whatever you think of him or his intentions, you can't deny he said that he wanted to right the wrongs:
“I still want to be part of it. Whether the club or the manager will want me to be a part of it we will have to see.
“But I’ve got three years left. I’ve got my own personal pride. I want to get back to the player I was before this season.
“Getting relegated from the Championship is a disgrace. It is shameful. And I want to come back to put things right – I know a lot of the players feel the same.
"I want to make up at least for what has happened this season. I don’t want to walk around Wolverhampton at the moment.
"It’s embarrassing. What we have done to go from those highs to this is just a disgrace for us.
“I know this comes over as ‘talk is cheap’ but what else can you say? I want to knuckle down in the summer and find the player I know I can be again.”

I didn't want the article which rightly proclaims Doyle as a great guy to become an argument but I did just think it was right to note that some other players did say it in response to your comment about others doing as Doyle has done.
Calling you a hypocrite is not "name calling", perton. It is an apt description of the way that you behave.
" I do believe Karl Henry would have had the same attitude but would probably not have been able to express himself quite so well in print."

Or on the field, Wulfrunnut.
I apologise ulf its just that Doyle has said it in a more eliquent manner and from his attitude on the pitch he means it, i just couldnt remember henry saying that and I dont believe his attitude on the pitch would have changed either, so why didnt he and the other's involved come out and say they wanted to put the wrongs right and were prepaired to take a pay cut this season to try to help us get promoted.
Its obvious why................they couldnt give a sh it thats why.
I wasn't having a go and no need for an apology at all, I just wanted to point out that Henry did say it. While a lot of people don't seem to have a lot of time for Henry, I certainly don't see him on the same level as RJ and O'Hara for instance and I wouldn't want for history to eventually treat him in that way because he was a very important and committed player for us for seven years (if largely ineffective for the last two).
Henry did say he wanted to stay to sort it out too. http://www.expressandstar.com/sport/wolverhampton-wanderers-fc/2013/07/04/karl-henry-doesnt-want-to-be-sold-by-wolves/
We'll never know whether his attitude on the pitch would have shown that but I personally don't think think it is fair to assume it wouldn't have.
Nice read altogether, some good inbetween the lines reading as well.
Most noticeably, as GB has already pointed out, the four were indeed singled out for reasons other than just finances.
Good to read also that some footballers are not sucked into this ''the prem or nothing'' attitude, its good to win games and enjoy the football, just as some fans have been saying this season also, and its clear that losing constantly has quite a negative effect on them.
PS, he mentions putting right the last few years too, not just last year
I wanted to keep Henry at the start of the summer, but seeing how things have unfolded i now couldn't care less.
Apology accepted perton. Oh, wait.
I didnt think you were having a go ulf, dont mind a good debate just cant stand the name callers on here.
But there was thing about henry that contributed to his downfall at wolves when he received all that negative press from his so called spats with you know who, when as people have stated on here that he was told to rein his neck in and that stopped him from tackiling as he used to and being affective for us, so the question is....who told him to rein his neck in and stopped him from being the player he was for us and becoming so ineffective
I think we, as fans, have a tendency to simplify these things. Understandably we want and look for answers we can understand.
So it suits us to say that Henry became ineffective because he was told to stop tackling as hard. While I'm sure that was a factor, humans don't really work like that, a million different factors influence us consciously and subconsciously in every single thing we do every day, from having a parent fall ill, enduring a few sleepless nights, losing your confidence on the pitch, the press getting at you, a worse atmosphere in the dressing room, a niggling ankle knock, a virus, a previous love of your life getting married, an argument with someone working on your home, a prang in the car, food poisoning, an argument with the missus...literally everything we do affects our daily "performance".
Henry no more became ineffective on instructions from Mick than he had good games before that because Mick told him to "have a good game".
So you think mick telling Henry to reign his neck in had no effect on him and was just a coincidence that around that time was when he became so ineffective for us.
there any evidence that Mick did tell henry to reign his neck in?
If he did, I'm sure it had a big effect on the intensity of Henry's tackling, but that alone wouldn't have made him ineffective, it would have just made him a little less gung ho. We rightly wouldn't give all the credit to Mick for Henry having an amazing game because it would be the result of loads of other factors, so I don't think we can blame his ineffectiveness on one instruction either.
I think all that fuss over Henry's tackles did have an effect cause it was such an important part of his game. He is fundamentally a defensive midfield player and doesn't have the passing and shooting assets in his game although he is quite good at ball retention. I suspect McCarthy did have words with him at the time cause the media attention was getting too much, and I also believe taking the captaincy off him later was another part of taking him out of the spotlight.
But whatever you think of him as a player, he seemed to have been sidelined for totally different reasons and I think its a shame that him and Ward were tarred with the same brush as O'Hara and Johnson. Having said that I think after two relegations it was right to have a clear out and that was all part of us successfully lifting the gloom and starting again.
It would be good to hear the full story behind why ward was sidelined with the others.
Henry we can assume carried quite a bit of clout in the dressing room and if you believe what you hear, was involved in the split that ensued.
Ward? My guess is that he too was influential in those months and was a voice in all the goings on which have followed, maybe even part of the rumoured 'we won't play for stale' thing.
Whatever it was, kj was well informed and took no time dealing with it.
What on earth is this 'we wont play for Stale thing'?
2 things make it totally uncredible.
I have been in management for many years and it has never been an acceptable excuse to say the reason I failed was that the people working for me were not behind me and were not doing a good job. 100% of the time the answer from the people employing me would have said it was my job to sort it out and make it work.
To compound that, if this was really going on and Johnson, O'Hara, Henry and Ward were the people behind it, the fact that Stale was selecting all of them whenever they were available right up until the time he was sacked, is an even bigger indictment of his managerial skills than his poor results and diabolical style of football.
If Jackett was told from the beginning that these 4 players had no future at the club, then how come everyone else at the club knew they were a problem and Stale didn't?
