There are many German-Ghanain players, not sure about how germany and ghana got together though... ballotelli for one and the boateng brothers (one brother played for germany and one played for ghana in the world cup!)

Danny Welbeck is also ghanain but I think he might have been born in England or has english links.

I think we should steadily introduce him to first team football and hopefully he will be the next £9 mill connor wickham!

So, Ballotelli is a German Ghanain with an Italian name? Too complicated for me.
According to the Mercury:
http://www.thisisleicestershire.co.uk/Sven-hails-Leicester-City-goal-star-Jeff-Schlupp/story-13104047-detail/story.html Sven could send him out on loan. I hope not. Also, our last debut hat-trick was from Bill Leitch in 1945. Never heard of that one.

this is on wiki... seems I'm completely wrong but sounds complicated anyway

Balotelli was born in Palermo, Sicily, to Ghanaian immigrants Thomas and Rose Barwuah. The family moved to Bagnolo Mella in the province of Brescia, Lombardy, shortly after Balotelli was born.[6] As an infant Balotelli had life-threatening complications with his intestines which led to a series of operations, although his condition had improved by 1992. Mario's health problems and the family's cramped living conditions meant the Barwuahs decided to ask for the help of social services who recommended that Mario be fostered.[6] In 1993 Mario was three years old when the Barwuah family agreed to entrust him to Francesco and Silvia Balotelli,[6] with the legal move formalized by the Court of Brescia.[7] When Mario Balotelli became famous his biological parents asked for his return. He later accused his biological parents of "glory hunting", stating that they only wanted him back because of the prominence he had gained.[8] According to Law 91 of 5 February 1992,[9] Balotelli had to wait until his 18th birthday in order to request Italian citizenship, as the Balotellis had not adopted him, and he officially gained citizenship on 13 August 2008.[10]

Thanks for that. A better class of chit-chat on JA606 Foxes board. Very erudite. Still baffled how Balotelli became a German. Surprised the Irish did not snap him up on the grounds that he had once thought about buying an Irish wolfhound once! Cheers.

Ah, Wiki says he played for Italy not Germany. Can only think Schlupp's family took a wrong turn on the way to Italy, Spain or wherever!

This gets better. Wiki says Schlupp went to school in Milton Keynes and can play for Germany, Ghana or England!

haha take your pick. I hate this pretty much choosing which nation you want to play for. It should be a case of you play for whichever your nationality is on your birth certificate.

I heard that danny welbeck was being asked by ghana to play for them at senior level and just as he was about to say yes, capello pushed him into the england squad and gave him his first cap... sounds dodgy to me

It sounds like Capello was safeguarding a promising England striker who could have had a big future ahead in the national side.

I believe Schlupp was born in Ghana, with one parent being German. He was subsequently raised from an early age in ENgland, allowing him to play for all 3.
