Wasn't old enough to watch Lineker. He seemed a limited goal poacher but he's been successful everywhere. Can't argue with that.

As goal scorers go, even Wrighty would acknowledge Lineker as his superior.

Lineker scored 243 goals in 466 games at club level.
Wright scored 239 goals in 501 games.

However Wright only played for one top team & that was Arsenal. His record at Arsenal was impressive, 128 goals in 221 games. He also had spells at Palace 90 goals in 225 games. West Ham 9 goals in 22 games, plus a few games each for Nottingham Forest & Celtic.

His England record was 9 goals in 33 games.


Lineker scored 95 goals in 194 games for Leicester,
30 goals in 41 games for Everton
42 goals 103 games for Barcelona.
67 goals in 105 games for Spurs.

His England record was 48 goals in 80 games.

So Lineker not only scored more, he did it at a higher level than Wrighty so must be acknowledged as the better player & goalscorer.
Lineker also captained England.

Linekar scored more, has a higher goals:games and scored more at the highest international level.

Linekar also makes the CLASSIC XI team in FIFA, Ian does not

I am gonna get flanned aswell because as a kid Lineker was my favorite player....but that was while he was at Everton........but after Brady I had no Arsenal player I loved until Wrighty.....

He scored 19 goals for England, won the FA cup whilst playing for Spurs

Only scored 15 goals when playing for Everton (which was one season)
