I think it's a bit harsh to want him to flop ... Particularly when you consider if he does, he'll move to City, United or Chelsea

I really bloody hope we've first refusal on him!

You're right that there's a lot of negativity around the move:
1. Fans think he's too expensive
2. Perception from 7-8 first team players at Madrid (including Ronaldo) that his arrival pushed out their buddy and assist machine Ozil
3. Massively increasing the gearing ratio of Madrid (guess it's currently 50%?) and putting what could be considered a questionable liability onto a failed bank

Good luck Gareth.

Oh and the fact that he's never going to live up to expectations, whatever he does. I mean, he's got to be better than Ronaldo to justify the price tag ... Cracking player, but he's not in the same (metaphorical) league

The whole story is tenuous to say the least.

"Real Madrid, which already has a debt of roughly 600 million euros"

Forbes and blomberg disagree. Madrid themselves released financial records showing that, as they continue to increase profit and revenue they have cut their debt from about 130mil euro to about 90mil.

" is funded by Bankia "

No, just like every other football team out there, they take out loans from banks against their assets. Nothing unusual with this.

"So a bank which was bailed out by the EU backs Real on their ridiculous spending sprees ... If this is true, our tax payers money pretty much funded this chimp's move to Spain "

Using that logic you will tell me that the belgians and irish, who also have contributed into EU funds, now have a part ownership of Spain itself due to the bailout funds.

The story is nothing more than nationalist right wing nonsense.

bale has proven that he processes the absolute talent to change the fortunes of a team he plays for. that is a unique talent of it's own and not many players come along and can do that especially in the Premier League. can he light up the Spanish league in the same who knows but we will soon see.

I don't think he has to be better than Ronaldo goal scoring wise to prove his value. I reckon if he helped them win the Champions League and/or La Liga it will be seen as a successful signing (winning CL especially).

Can't we all just unite with the knowledge that North London has taken Madrid to the cleaners this transfer window??

yep, its true....

meanwhile whilst Madrid spend what they dont have, funded in part by a bankrupt bank in a bankrupt country, the Spanish people are starving, their youth of today has no future tomorrow and what and where are their politicians?

Either in prison or at the puty club and thinking up new lies to tell their flock....

Pretty low to hope someone fails to succeed at his childhood club! Comes across very bitter about an ex Spurs player

Who cares where the money comes from, as long as it's in our bank account that's all that matters. There'll be many people not just in Spurs who'll want him to flop like Torres has at Chelsea so it's pressure he'll have to live with. For him it's sink or swim with nothing in the middle because nobody is going to sympathize with a player who cost that much.
