Typical bandwagonning. The guy has missed close to 2 years of football at just 21. That's a lot of football development time gone. He's not close to the form he showed in the 2010/2011 season where he was our player of the season at just 19. He needs time.
Been saying it for years on here......Jack Wilshere = Joey Barton.
Of course he needs time. But it doesn't change the fact that in his career he's only ever shown a good standard of form for one season. And that was two years ago.
I think the point is that the performances aren't justifying the hype. We've had the exact same things happen with Nani and Anderson.
And while there are many, myself included, that hope they may rediscover that form with games and fitness - there still remains massive question marks over both players ever doing that.
Arsenal fans may be certain that he won't go down that route, and for his and England's sake I hope they are right, but surely even Arsenal fans can see why some people have doubts over him? Even at such a young age.
When Barton was 21-22 the press were raving about him, I remember reading Barton next English capt........funny I saw Gerrard only a few weks back saying the same about Wilshere.......Average players at best.
Ramsey was always the real talent. Would be right up there now if it wasn't for Shawcross.
Must have been watching a different match.
Pretty sure it was his dribble from deep that instigated the counter-attack from which Lambert received a clear-cut opportunity at goal (not to mention his continued run that pulled the defender away to create space for Lambert's shot); his turning away from the Moldovan player under pressure which drew in other opposition players and created the space down the left from which the Lampard goal was scored; then there was his shot from inside the box after he carried the ball forward and feinted past their defence to create the opportunity for himself; and there was the through-ball for Welbeck after he turned his marker and played a perfectly weighted ball in-between the full-back and centre-half for Welbeck to run onto.
And this was having played less than 2/3 of the game with Hodgson seemingly wanting him fit for the upcoming Ukraine game.
he has the skill and natural talent to be a top, top player
far more than any of the younger players
Barton was a very talented player
his own idiocy, anger, ego and violent nature undermined him
Both him and Ramsey are the two best young talents I have seen for a very long time. With both of them, but particularly Ramsey, I do think a lot about the level they could be at now had it not been for his injury.
If they can both have a full season this season, then given their ages, Arsenal could have a wonderful midfield there for a few years to come.
meltonblue cleverley is good as well.
Barkley I predict will be better than both. Don't rate Ramsey at all personally

look who wipes the floor and his bum with all of them
Cleverley is good, I agree hafi.
Pre injury, when they were all first breaking through, I just thought Ramsey was the pick of the three. Personal opinion, though.
imo if ramsey, cleverley and welbeck played for sunderland then they wouldn't be being discussed and the last two not even playing international football
I agree, Melton. Ramsey did look the most talented of the three.
But based on the last two seasons they've all been pretty average. Still early days, however.
Ramsey? The guy is crap as well
Wilshere is joe cole mk2, he even has the tongue business off to a tee.
Welbeck first caps came playing well for Sunderland
I wouldn't say Wilshire is the most talented English youth midfielder, that's Barkley by a million miles. Everton fans have known this since he was 15.
How would Everton fans know that unless you know everyone else's youth prospects...?
