I have to say the rioch/todd years was my favourite era. After all those years in the wilderness Bruce came along took a look at Phil Neals team, made unpopular decisions such as selling tony philliskirk and signing john McGinley and turned around the clubs fortunes. Without him there would have been no big Sam years. The team played the right way with bravery. There were real characters in that era, leaders the type we do not have now. McAteer, super john,Andy walker, later coyle, mixu, frandsen, johansen. Who was your favourite player in that era? Too many to pick from. Who is your favourite player in the current era? For me only spearing has the kind of character that would have fitted in that era.

Nuns - guess this article isn't getting the respinse you expected (or deserve)!!!!

Sadly most of our fans have only experienced the Prem years, either due to age which is fair enough, or due to being one of the 13,000 new fans that started turning up at the time we moved into the Reebok

Also this type of article doesn't allow bashing of PG, ED, GM, OC or DF. You'd have 50-100 comments by now if it did.

For me, def the Rioch years. I look at it in terms of my top ten matches ever. 7 came under Rioch, 2 under Ian Greaves and 1 under Big Sam.

I would list them, but I am on mobile and anyway i'm sure you can guess them.

The Rioch years, the White Hot years. God they were good days. Still remember watching us as a second tier team spanking Spurs six-one in the league cup. The way everyone was afraid to come to Burnden Park because we were afraid of nobody and how an entire division became our 'bunny'.

When Bruce went to Arsenal I was shocked and like many fans I was mad at him but in retrospect we shouldn't have been. His work with the Trotters must stand as some of the greatest management success of the late 20th century. He gave us back our pride and I can still remember hw the crowds began to rise in number, how the atmosphere on a match day went from a few hundred die hards attempting to sing to thousands making the whole ground shake to the roar of pride in the men in white shirts.

Yes the BSA days were awesome but they were only possible because Big Sam stood on the shoulders of the giant Bruce Rioch. So for me, the BR days are the greatest in my lifetime, even better than Ian Greaves taking us to the top flight with Frank Worthington and the rest of that awesome gang.

Peter, just think what we could have done if Rioch had stayed instead of going to Arsenal for a few weeks. What a waste of good managerial talent.

What's your point? As in living?

Just stating a fact. Chill man.

What was the point of the fact?

posted on 7/9/13

Nothing really. Why does it matter, SpanishPig?

posted on 7/9/13

So you made a pointless point & now you're being offensive? Right so far?

posted on 7/9/13

Ok ok, I give.

I said it to cause some controversy, seeing as people are saying this board is boring...

Crickey.

I thought you were more thick skinned than that! That's not offensive.

posted on 7/9/13

You tried to create controversy by counting the number of comments on an article?

You're not a Kray or a Good Fella are you......

You gave me the link. Pretty much the first thing anyone sees is how many comments have been made.

I can read.

Do they...

What?

Do they... You said its what anyone sees. I'm asking do they. Who are you speaking on behalf of? You? Or anyone else...

posted on 7/9/13

I'm speaking on my behalf. But I reckon it's what anyone sees.

Anyway. I've sufficiently wound you up now and mumsnbogies should be happy I've got his article comment count up.

You wound me up? Really?

I asked you a few questions that's all... Sounds like you're making a run for it now.
