A friend of mine posted that the record revenues by Man Utd were made big news to deflect from the Glazers filing with the SEC to sell $396mil of shares.

Is this a bad thing?
Hopefully not if they use it to pay down some more of the debt
Not completely unexpected considering the shares have gone from $12 to $17 since the float and were as high as $19.
Don't expect the Glazers to start paying dividends though. They stated in the original prospectus not to expect any in the near future
Apparently it would be 24% of the total shares but only 3.1% control of the club.
--------------------
who would buy so many shares for so little control?
for investment Kaz - if the price continues rising as it is (which it should considering the increased profits being made year on year) someone could turn that $396m into well over $500m in the space of a few years
if i was buying that many shares of something i would be expecting alot more upfront
It was stated when the original 10% of shares were sold the summer before last that the voting structure would give the 10% only like 1-2% of the votes in the company.
Yet those shares were snapped up and have risen by nearly 50% since that date.
The club continues to sign new sponsorship deals increasing revenue and with the new tv/shirt/chevrolet deals kicking in within the next 1-2 years it will continue to grow and should drive the share price up.
Add to that how our gearing/leverage ratio is falling, it does appear to be a solid investment with the most obvious risk being should the team dip in performance on the field (loosing out on CL football for example)
Not sure what the negatives here are though? On a separate note, we bank in the grand cayman islands these days, so I wouldn't pay attention to anyone outside the club discussing finances

If you knew just how much they take home, you would just die... Like literally.
I've hated them since day 1 and I still do.
But like VC says......what can we do about it really? It's their club now sadly. They can do as they please.
The only thing that would have ever made them sit up and take notice is one thing that would have never happened.....a large scale boycott.

I hate the way they bought the club, and the amount of money they have spent repying the debt.
But as owners, I don't hate them. They let football people run the football side of things.
They could have put much more money in their pockets, if they were that way inclined.
If you knew just how much they take home, you would just die

Perhaps you can provide us with the facts and figures dating back from 2005.
