No chance, not clinical enough.

Soldado is the man!

Soldado is our first choice striker and it is important that he builds an understanding with Eriksen. The only way to achieve this is through games.

He also plays with far more intelligence and has far better movement than Defoe.

Soldado to start for me

Disagree. Soldado is far superior to Defoe. Jermain is clinical in games v weak teams, but often anonymous in the important matches.

Luv JD but that aint gonna happen.

Will definitely get his chance though... as long as he keeps banging them in

Defoe would have missed at least one of the penalties we had.

No. Soldado to start

Defoe was great for 30 mins, as he usually is. Problem is games last 90. Soldado for me at least for a few games.

Defoe is trying to build an understanding with Holtby so if you start Defoe then Holtby would be pushing for an inclusion

Defoe is usually so great at the start of the season, Soldado will be crucial for when Defoe fizzles out in December time

No way Edin. Just because he bangs in a couple of goals against frankly a pub team does not mean he displaces our 26 million front man. Soldado will get the nod and rightly so

No he shouldn't

Realistically Soldado has only had one PL game where he has had proper service (last week with Norwich). No he didn't score, but he still played very well and I felt was crucial to us winning so easily.

Imo it would be madness to drop him for Defoe, a player who I like but who in all the years we've had him has never established himself as a top striker (even last year when we had a horrendously out of form Ade)

Defoe was absolute pants for 6 months of last season, so no way should he start, a couple of goals against a pub team, does not put him in front of Soldado.

Exactly. Soldado needs proper service in more than one game. Ronaldo in his prime would have struggled for shots at goal in those first 3 league games

When you play one guy up top against prem opposition its not unusual for him not to score hatfulls but it is vital that he can bring others into the game as most goals in that system come from midfield.

Defoe cannot bring other people into the game its that simple. Note our first goal against Norwich. The ball forward to a striker who laid it off perfectly to Eriksen who put Siggy in. Would Defoe have done the same ? I doubt it, his only aim would have been to get a shot in himself.

Good input as always chronic.

Fair enough Grand, but I dont see the point in giving someone a chance in Europe. Then proving yourself, only to find out that you arent going to get a chance in the league as a result.
