Well lets hope he shows that trust with a contract extension because he only signed a 3 year deal when he joined.
There is not much point in letting a manager who did very well in his first season, then completely rebuild the squad to meet his own requirements only to have to replace him a year or so later.
Very true. He's providing him with the financial backing to take spurs and himself to where they want to be. As for his contract, that will surely depend on how we do this season/start of the next one. At the same time we'd have to consider whether his stock has risen/still high in Europe and if he'd fancy a crack at one of the traditional European giants such as Milan etc.
Without trying to sound too negative, I could see AVB looking to move on next season if he does well. He has said on a number of occasions that he is not looking to have a long managerial career.
Hopefully Levy can persuade him/provide him with the necessary funds for him to feel that he can achieve his goals with us!
Yeah I don't see AVB staying at spurs for more than 5 years to be honest. But without trying to blow our own trumpet there aren't many top jobs out there (although circumstances can change within the next couple of years). Obviously barca, Real Madrid, man united, bayern are the big draws, Dortmund might come up within that time. Although I mentioned Milan earlier, would he really want to go to Italy unless it was either Napoli or juventus?
I see a similar piece...thou that said our net spend was 23mil....
But yes op.....seems we have a structure in place that levy trusts....
Left back....another...better than ade or Defoe striker.....
wtf how on earth did we have a net spend of 23 mil . Poor journalism
I read the same thing in the Daily Fail today.....that our net spend was £23m....people seem to forget we made £23m or so on Hudd, Caulker, Dempsey, Parker as well as selling Bale.
Ah you see, the daily fail...
They don't know their @r5e from their elbow. Tried to stir it up the other day saying how bale had pipped ronaldo to the FIFA cover, failing to realise that ronaldo has a deal with PES to be the face of their game
Levy has clearly given Baldini the big money to spend, not AVB.
Obviously he will have some input, but that's the whole point of the DoF

Again, that's the reason clubs have a DoF.
Baldini is in overall charge of transfers, and the next manager has to work with him.
It's not as if the players we have are unique in style - most managers who play a variant of 4 at the back and one striker would be able to work with our squad.
The manager should now be part of the jigsaw, a component that can be replaced, not the board it is compiled on.
