Where is the evidence that Gerrard does not have the legs anymore?
This game is too big to throw Ibe into. I'll keep Moses in.
Meh a c o c cup is never a big game, ibe v Adnan!
I just think he seemingly tires earlier than the rest of the team. It might just be me, but I think keeping him fresh for Sunderland is the best idea, as that is 3 points that we definitely need to be claiming
Wouldn't it be better to rest Sturridge and bring on Suarez for the last 30mins so we will have both fresh for Saturday
It might just be me

It’s not just you.
There appears to be a frowing body of opinion on here that all we have to do is drop Gerrard, (whose “legs have gone”, even though he still has high Opta Stats for running), and we’ll start playing like Barcelona, with Joe Allen as the new Iniesta.
If Gerrard doesn’t play tomorrow, it’ll be interesting to see if that’s what happens.
I’d be amazed, if I’m honest, but you never know..
(Suarez, meanwhile, who has no competitive match-practice, is going to be the Duracell Bunny, with no effect on his legs)
West, I think Gerrard is just following team orders and has been told to stay compact next to Lucas. He does not have any fitness issues for me but neither is he 25 anymore so we cant expect him to go box to box throughout the 90 mins.
The only issue remains is that he and Lucas are just too deep and taking the ball off the defenders foot in not helping anyone.
Suarez played twice for Uruguay only a couple of weeks ago.

Yes, I know. Not a lot, is it?
I'll be surprised if he plays the full match, but again, you never know.

Kelly------Toure---Sakho----Enrique

Or maybe Henderson for Sterling.
Suarez is not coming back from an injury. As well as playing for Uruguay he has been playing a game behind closed doors and has been training regularly with the squad. I reckon he will play the full 90 but if it goes to ET then he might struggle.
I'd keep Sturridge on the bench for this game after his recent niggling injury.
Gerrard is fine
His legs are fine too
Why do people always say this when a player is over 30?

I think Joe Allen is still injured
Suarez will play, Suarez will score. We may not win the game but I expect both to happen.
It's time to get behind our team, and in particular our skipper who can't have been pleased with his or the team's performance. StevieG can still do it, yes, a bit more slowly, nor as many times as before either, but he can still ping a ball on a sixpence, just like Phillipe.

I'd start Kelly, and sin him off for wisdom if needed (even at half time) rather than the other way around.
I would rest sturridge and Gerrard If possible, sterling has had a niggling injury and can come on if needed Gerrard could use a rest he has played a lot of games recently (notes county 120mins 180mins for England and all our league games) nothing to do with losing his legs, you just rotate your squad to keep people fresh! And I'd rather rest him in the league cup than the prem!
------Mignolet---------
Kelly-toure-ilori-Enrique
-----Lucas-Hendo/allen
Sterling---Suarez----ibe

That team should be able to bring the Points home, only desperation will make moyes field a full squad! And I'm not sure he is quite there yet!!
A mixture of Youth/subs needing a run out and experience
Would keep Moses in the team, he needs to build some match fitness, play Sterling the otherside then bring Ibe on for one of those two.
