I mentioned earlier...be careful what you wish for as regarding Nigel Clough. Im on his case about some things...not everything.
Mostyn, excellent article and the best I have read for a while. 5 stars from me. I read it at lunchtime but haven't had chance to comment.
You mirror my thoughts of Clough and general state of our club at the moment.
Personally, I am sick of consistent inconsistency. As has been stated he's had five years to assemble a squad and the defence is still shocking.
When coupled with his well documented shortfalls (too many to mention) I've had enough.
Having made the trip last night and enjoyed the magnificent support WE SIMPLY DESERVE BETTER!!
Thanks Nigel but we need a change. We could give you another five years and we would still have the same problems and downfalls. I genuinely believe you have taken the club as far as you can.
Clough out
Backo to tell you the truth mate, it's just a matter of time until he leaves.
You can see the pressure in his face on tv interviews.
I'm still waiting for your lots suggestions for a replacement manager if he does walk.
Gus Poyet Wassa ? Although I feel 99% sure he would NEVER walk. Too arrogant and stubborn
I'd have thought that not walking away when things are tough was a mark of manliness and of being possessed of the right stuff, but no. "Arrogance and stubbornness", apparently. Ah well.
Baz I think he would want to stay round London and wait for a London club. But good shout though mate.
Any more for anymore.
Also Baz, I think fans would put him under pressure to walk cause there are a lot more angry Derby fans out there, and if we get beaten by that lot down the A52 I think it will be curtains for him.
"Baz I think he would want to stay round London and wait for a London club"
Yeah, that explains why he's got the Sunderland job.
Wassa...There is more chance of Nigel resigning than being sacked. Im annoyed at how he is letting slip all his good work.
ABC, Wassa: ANYONE but Clough!
I think Pulis would be a good shout: he certainly knows how to defend! Why anyone would stick with non-league failures over someone who promoted and kept up a small town club is frankly beyond me... It wasn't pretty under Billy Davies either but I enjoyed his spell as our manager winning ugly more than I ever have or will with the current tactic-less idiot, plus Pulis has always had wingers, the likes of Pennant and Etherington, who keep chalk dust on their boots.
Like I say though: ABC!!
Vidal, I have been thinking about Poyet for a while and half suspected he would have been employed very recently when I just mentioned him (should have researched )
In relation to Clough's characteristics if you have not gathered those particular ones by now then, with respect, you are not a very good judge of character.
I agree he is stubborn. I don't know quite what you mean by arrogance.
Name five instances when Clough has put his hands up and admitted he should have done better.
Trawl through his five year tenure, and that should be easy enough if he isn't arrogant.
Here's an idea 666. Let's apply the same criteria to yourself.
Supremely confident in your own abilities with a tendency to talk down to people in a condescending manner.
I personally have witnessed this on a Sunday morning whilst in his company on more than one occasion. Further backed up on occasions when listening to his interviews.
Is this still 666 we are talking about Baz?
...and it wouldn't be so bad if his abilities WERE extremely good. Quite simply they are not.
If I'm ever wrong, I'm sure I'll admit it.
Your as bad as Nige then 666...if not worse
The thing we should all think of is...if Nigel Clough were to ever leave Derby...who would GSE appoint to come under their financial constraints? You can mention all the names you want...Pulis,Poyet..etc...forget them...try Megson,Laws..im telling you be careful.
Baz
Well, dreary monologues is more 666s thing I suppose....
Clough doesn't come across as supremely confident to me. I haven't met him but I know people who have very good things to say about him as a man, honest and genuine and caring. I don't know how relevant that is to the question in hand. I think he's doing his best. I think he has some weaknesses as a manager (which of us doesn't in our jobs?) but I think it's a bit sad when talking about his attributes for the job turns into a character assassination. I'm happy to slag off 666 though, partly because he deserves it, partly because I'm a hypocrite, and partly because he can attempt to defend himself, which Clough can't.
I hear Chris Hughton could be available soon
Is that a good thing Mostyn?
Its all ok for us fans to say we need a change...I say us as we are Derby as our owners say...but how do we know what they want? They appoint to their comfort. If Nigel Clough left im sure GSE's nappy would be full. Now what would they do? Think about it people.
