Because you guys sold them probably the best striker in the world.

It's quite simple. Fergie is a top manager and can make average players a winning team!

"Cannot work out how Man Utd won the title"

They had the most points after 38 games.

Always one isn't there. Well done Chris, I chuckled.

Fergie was a managerial genius. Let there be no doubt. He had the perfect mixture of tactical genius, motivational qualities, luck and the ability to know when a substitution was right. He knew exactly what tactics should be employed against a certain team, and what to do when plan A didn't work.

He also setup up United to be a great defensive unit, employing the right amount of defensive solidity with attacking threat. He knew he had an average squad of players, but he could make them into a top team. A unit working very efficiently. Only the top top teams would get the better of this United side.

Moyes is just an awful manager.

I rate Moyes, but I think his style isn't so compatible with the squad he has inherited. If I was a Man Utd fan I'd be really worried.

On a serious note, everyone but the United fans knew they would struggle this year - I actually think a lot of them thought it to be fair, but refused to accept it.

Bizarre, absolutely ridiculous to hire Moyes. Surely, at a club as big as United, you want a winner, someone with a track record of getting the best out of top players, not someone who has bobbled around 5th-9th place for a few years, all whilst achieving very little.

Was Moyes really the best they could do? Or , like Darren Fletcher, was he given preferential treatment by SAF for his nationality?

please --- lets give moyes a bit more time he did good things at everton and 1 defeat at man u does not make him an " awful manager "

on a logical note how long did fergie take to establish himself at man u

I would happily accept 3-4 years of a United with Moyes. They would truly be a mid-table club by then.

This is the line that will save Moyes. Solely because 25 odd years ago, another manager took a while to get going, Moyes should be afforded the same time.

Game has changed. United should of kept up.

Do you think Arsenal can win it Serial?

Good point martial, wasn't it 3 seasons before Fergie had any success?

We need to stop with the united articles because it could come right back and bite us on the ass

Btw, if Moyes fails to finish outside the top 4 this season, he will be sacked. This isn't the 1980s and Moyes isn't Fergie. A club like United cannot afford to give Moyes 4 years only to figure out he was useless after all.

Cheer up Castor. Worse things in life than a few filthy mancs bringing up old articles.

Hence why I acknowledged that at the end of my article.

Other teams were not that good last season, simple.

This season? No chance. I'm happy we're top at the moment, but that's it. We won't win the league. I am happy with the direction we're finally seem to be going, but the league will be between City and Chelsea.

I'm not even remotely woried. No team can win every title every year.

Moyes has taken on a nigh impossible job following Fergie and it was never going to be easy.

He's 8 games in, he had a tough start to deal with and the vultures are already circling

He has got Rooney remotivated. Nani has decided to stay, and he has reinforced the midfield which is all I expected of him this Summer. He needs to be given time to assess our squad himself and decide who he wants to keep and who he doesn't

He'll need more than a couple of months to get the team playing like he wants so as I said, I'm not that worried at all. If it takes a season or two to get United back at the top, so be it, I can cope

But with the quality of the top 7 this year, that may mean finishing outside the top 4 in the process, surely?

OP it's not very difficult is it.

They have some very good players, and excellent manager, inept rivals = Title.

I doubt it in all honesty but anything is possible.

Moyes won't keep his job though if that happens, or even looks likely to happen

If United are struggling still by January, The Glazers will have no choice but to spend big. And this time, Woodward better not fek it all up and wait until the last day again

On who? You can name a couple of examples here and there i.e. Torres, but very rare to see top players being sold in January.

Can't see United doing a "Chelsea" and spending £50m on one player.
