I think these are nailed on starters. Even though Hazard has had a bad run of form we all know what he can do.

Cech and Hazard would be automatic selections for me, even if Hazard has not met his usual high standards lately. Possibly Mata as well if we left him to play his natural game.

Hey I would name the whole squad but this is not about who we individually think is good enough but the player or players we all agree are good enough. Many of those listed KOTB and TLLL have been criticised if not in this thread, others so though I may agree with you others don't. Judging by comments so far we seem to have 2 possible candidates, Cech and Matt.

Terry - club captain and still best centre back in the prem IMO

If Courtois wasn't on loan it wouldn't be Cech so he's in by default.

Ozil is a better player than Mata imo, Mata comes close though.

Agree on Terry if he is fit he has to play especially in the PL where his experience is what will get us clean sheets week in week out.

So what you're looking for is someone who is selected on reputation

Cech is never going to be picked at the expense of someone else...well not in the next two/three years anyway..

For my money...we have nobody currently to fit that bill, as we are very strong squad wise

In times gone by...JT Cole & Lamps all day...not now though due to age mainly, & more than adequate cover for all

If we were talking about Liverpool - Gerrard would fit this bill still

Regarding your original post. I think that player is Oscar.

No sherrif, at least one player that no one would argue should be in the team. Kdb I am a big Oscar fan but some think he should not start ahead of Mata or is causing him to be played out of position.
