I guess it's perhaps because Spain don't always play with an out-and-out striker (and never have more than one), and with Villa and Negredo in the squad ahead of Soldado they don't really need another striker, who would be highly unlikey to get any game time.

Actually wanting your players to play for another country is like being happy your missus is going elsewhere for a bit of the other.

There's no benefit for Spurs in Soldado playing for Spain, and if he did it just means more games and chances of injury. If I supported Spain, fair enough, but I couldn't care less.

I'd be delighted if every one of our players is dropped for their country.
