We don't know for definite Soldado would have got 7 in 4 games v the same sides. He has 1 in 2 in Europe, so the signs are good, but no guarantee.

Would Defoe have scored in the PL? Maybe not, but he couldn't have scored less goals from open play as it's impossible to get less than 0.

At the end of the day, we paid 26m for a goal scorer. He ain't scoring goals at present, and neither is the team. They are stats you can't really ignore.

Big performance needed from him today

What with stalking Soldado, and watching out for Spurs supporters singing offensive charts, HRH is not going to see much of the game today.

That's the point of giving him a go - to see if anything changes. Only right considering the circumstances.

It didn't work. Now we know for definite the team either needs amending to get the best out of JD or Soldado, or Ade needs bringing in out of the cold.

I was very disappointed that Townsend wasn't put on the left at HT. So narrow with Naughton at LB and Siggy. Lessons never learned with that it seems, a definite AVB blind spot

This whole Soldado business is making some Spurs fans look like Liverpool supporters. Soldado can keep his place, because we all hope he comes good, but lets not pretend 'he's done well' or that Defoe doesn't deserve to start ahead of it.
____

I will back the decision of AVB to play Soldado because WE NEED him to come good.

____

I'm not moaning at Soldado.

I am moaning at some fans who have their faces so far up 'fan favorites' bum holes it's a joke.

____

BUT - we must play Soldado because we need him to turn the corner and become the guy I think he can become.

Doovde proven to be a feking liar.

Of the Spurs first XI today, only Lloris, Verts, Walker, Dembele, Paulinho would be def starters next prem game.

Dembele and Paulinho were pretty poor today. Not sure which game you watched.

Townsend showed bollcks and fight today, never his and wanted to make things happen. Probably the only outfield player certain of his place if going by today

I thought our best two were Siggy and Townsend.

That left side was begging for Townsend though, Naughton is so reluctant to go outside and with Siggy eager to come inside it was playing in to West Ham's hands.

AVB had a blind spot for this last season. By all means try it, he has earned the right to play how he likes. If it's not working though he has to change it.

A baffling thing or two from Thursday:

Why take Holtby off and give Dembele 90, knowing full well the latter is starting today?

Ditto Defoe - if he was starting today Soldado should have had the Anjhi gig.

Odd
