What strikes me is he's very weak, get's pushed off the ball, it's gonna take him a season to fit in that's for sure
Rose is in scintillating form...he proved me wrong massively.
I think he is defo the answer to our woes in that dept.
So we got Villa next. In two weeks time oh dear...
Hate these international fixtures...200 years of hurt!
HRH, sorry but he still has not been given a fair crack in the league. He come on against Cardiff and set up our winner, how comes you forget that? He deserves a chance. I remember you were one of those fans saying Friedel starting last season was right and you couldn't of been more wrong mate
I heard Ossie Ardiles claim Lamela is the next "Messi"??
So lets not be hasty about this guy and he did setup the only goal against Cardiff, with an exquisite flick.
More spurs, wouldn't say he's the next Messi mate because he's on a different planet but he is certainly a superb player that is not showing his true class at the moment. But he is also not been given a fair chance either and starting rubbish Europa games in Russia is hardly going to help him. He needs to be bought straight in against Villa instead of sigurdsson. If he gets a long run of prem games then I expect to see a lot of spurs fans on here eat humble pie for all there moaning about him already.
The whole Friedal/Lloris saga was managed admirably last season.

----------
How do you know I was wrong?
Lloris was eased in, given a couple of Europa games first to get to know the team. Friedel was playing ok at the time and AVB got it spot on.
Have I forgotten Lamela set up the winner v Cardiff? No
Did I forget he came on at all yesterday? Yes
I know you are desperate for him to star, as we all are, but he doesn't look ready for PL football yet. He hasn't even impressed during the Europa games yet.
You have to earn the shirt.
Exactly ^
If you dont earn the shirt then players who get there on reputation dont work as hard, and players who havent got there on reputation dont put in the effort or see the point in working hard to make the first team.
The whole Friedal/Lloris saga was managed admirably last season."
Not really because it cost us points in my opinion. Friedel let in some real sloppy goals and plenty of them when he started last season and I'm almost certain we would of been slightly better off had Lloris started. I'm not saying Lloris is perfect by the way. He to makes mistakes and has let in a few sloppy goals but he is still twice the keeper of a then 41 year old Friedel and should of immediately started the season.
Lloris did nothing wrong yesterday, can't be at fault for the goals, poor defending and lack of cover
Thudd, nothing to do with Lloris yesterday mate. I'm making a point about last season saying Lloris should of started from the beginning and I'm comparing that to Lamela. I personally believe Lamela should be starting in the league.
Don
You are spot on, of coure Lamela should be starting, along with Chiriches now the defence has been exposed once again, also Soldado, WTF said drop him after just six games for Defoe, who has been at the club years and never done it on a regular basis when it matters most. I am sure when AVB finally gets his full squad to pick from, both will be benched.
Sandy, agreed completely. Now if Lamela starts and is still not settling by new year then yes he deserves to be questioned. I have no problem with dropping big players so that's not my issue. But I just feel Lamela has been bought on for little cameo appearances in the league and he's better than that. Yes he's a kid but he's top quality and shouldn't be benched. It's ridiculous just like the Lloris situation. Lloris should of started right at the beginning and it did us no favours at all. As you know I am AVBs biggest fan on here but he has made 2 big errors so far for me..... Easing in a world class international keeper Lloris when it never should of been done and it cost us points and easing in a 30 mil pound Lamela who looks like he has lost every ounce of confidence.
Friedel didn't do anything noticeably wrong that cost is goals until Lloris started. Nothing Lloris hasn't been guilty of anyway.
Regardless of that, this is completely different. Lloris came in and did admirably in the Europa games. Lamela has looked pretty average so far.
Players should be picked in merit, not price tag and reputation.
So far Siggy has 3 goals in 6 starts and Townsend has been one of our better performers - in what was a good start. One of those would have to miss out for a player who has done virtually nothing to earn it
Townsend I agree has looked our most dangerous player and siggy has done really well to get those goals but I still don't think sigurdsson should be starting. I would give Lamela a run out in the league and see what the guy can do.

Sandy, agree with you apart from your Townsend point. I'm in agreement with the others on here that Townsend has been pretty excellent so far this season. I like Sigurdsson but I still dont think he's good enough to start every game. Let's give this Lamela a run out FFS!!! That's all I ask. I'm almost certain this guy will shine if we give him a run of games. Infact I am 100% sure. It's not about me being desperate for him to star.... It's me knowing he's a quality player through my own eyes for Roma.
Lloris starting in the EL was good, he got his mistakes out of his system on a stage in which he wouldnt be badly criticised for it. That howler he let in vs (I think) Maribor would have been a lot harder for him to get over if it had cost us points in the league.
And I got a friend who is a huge Inter Milan fan and he lives and breathes seria A. He has been raving about this Lamela all of last season hence why I checked him out a few times myself when I went round his a few times. He has more knowledge about him than anyone here I tell you that now. The guy is class and should be starting, end of story.
THUDD
Poyet was an OK player for Spurs. Taricco was OK as well, but like the players mentioned, were only good for maybe 6th/7th place finish, where Spurs will be heading this season, with the players I mentioned previously. Do you seriously think those players frighten the opposition. I doubt it.
Lots of players excel for one team and struggle in another. Im not saying Lamela will struggle in the long run, but he really hasn't done enough for the fans to be demanding a first team place for him. I think its crazy to say "well,he was great for Roma so he has to start" just as much as it is to say "Defoe has scored 7 goals vs Soldado's 2 so Defoe must start".
Though I'm not Rose's biggest fan. Without a fit Rose and Walker, we struggle to stretch play and give guys like Eriksen and Siggy time and space to make those through balls and runs from the midfield.
As for Chiriches. I must be watching a different player to everyone else. He looks like he has 4 or 5 critical errors per game in him right now. Again, not to say he wont improve. But a PL start seams a long way away.
Don't for a second compare Naughton to Tarrico and Siggy to Poyet, football was totally different 10 years ago and we played direct football

Lamela clearly has the talent. If he was ready though I'd expect a much better contribution from him innhos appearances so far.
Even AVB has said he isn't ready, and may take time to settle in. Confirming what most people can see with their own eyes.
