One of the best headers of a football I've seen.

...............

The best I have ever seen is one of the most clueless pundits. Garth Crooks.

Yeah, that bloody Gordon Strachan was always a thorn in our side!

VC he did the same with Alan smith had this idea of turning him into the new keano

That was probably one of our most important teams that 87-88 side, not just our best footballing wise.

It made us more appreciated and dare I say 'loved' than just simply admired and respected.

Utd always had the Best, Charlton and Law team and even Everton had produced some silky stuff in the 60s.

But Utd's football under Busby made them cherished almost were as we were just a machine like team who simply won titles. There was no real vintage championship side until that 87-88 team.

Diafol,

It didn't seem to matter how good we were, throughout the 80s we often struggled against your lot, at Anfield as well. Some crackers mixed in though.

Although not to dissimilar to us during your domination I suppose, we have always provided a big test even if we weren't always that good.

That side you mention though was certainly the peak of that era. Devastating team.

Sadly at the time that was our 'cup final' I suppose. Back then United had very talented players who for one reason or another (talk of a booze culture) could not sustain it over the season.

Many a time I remember watching Grandstand in the 80's for the results and at about 4.40 up would pop Rush 89' or something.

But that is what great teams do and while there will always be a rivalry there I think that amongst the more sensible of our fans there is also respect.

I used to love watching a good cross put in and a thumping header, now it's seen as hoofball, that's just wrong.

The most underrated player in today's game is probably De Gea.

The fact the best Spanish keeper around can't even get into the Spain SQUAD is absolutely criminal.

Agreed, and Duncan Ferguson was top at the art too.

There you have it VC.

He's obviously headed too many footballs in his career to come up with the muddled punditry he provides us with now.

Did he say last year that whoever scored most between Evra and Zabaleta their team would win the PL?

Cristiano Ronaldo is the best header of the ball these days, his leap off the ground is unmatched anywhere

Have to say here, so many knowledgable comments from the Man Utd fans here, it's been a pleasure watching this thread unfold.

Agree Aggers..not many diving headers these days either . One of my favourite headers was against your lot..by Jimmy Greenhoff in the FA Cup semi replay at Goodison

Diafol

The scary thing is, he was right.

Indeed Diafol.

A healthy respect will always exist.

Whiteside was the biggest thorn in the side though, for both Merseyside teams before he joined the bluenoses.

Pretty sure he'd have a month out with injury, reappear as a trip to Anfield was approaching and play out of his skin.

I'll never forget his cup final winner against a superb Everton team, neither.

To be back there again!

From what ive seen from Southampton, Schneiderlin is one of the most under rated in the league, always seems to pop up with some goals.

Neither will I.

I was three rows back, with a direct line of sight of the ball leaving his left foot and curling past big Nev.

Whiteside
Cantona wish we had signed him.

To this day a win v Man Utd is worth more interns of how hard it is to achieve than against any other team.

Mex,

The Utd board is the only other teams board I regularly visit to be honest. Some of the best debates take place on there.

I sometimes go to other boards if a thread takes the eye but I try to avoid the Cockney boards if I can.

Have you never met TOOR?

yes, but not had an argument with him

Vc,

Must have been one of your better days as a Utd fan, I assume?

Must have been a lovely sight.

Second time you stopped a Merseyside team achieving a historic treble in the space of a decade in an FA Cup. Not bad going, during a dry spell.
