Cheaper season tickets can only be a good thing, safe standing on the lower tiers needs to be looked at too.

I think it's a great idea. Personally I would rather we didn't sell out as the last couple of years, I have found it harder and harder to get a ticket, every league game has sold out pretty quickly and Viagogo is too expensive for me. Giving an option for more seats and cheaper season tickets as well can only be a good thing.

In terms of the banter about empty seats, I would say two things. Firstly, as I said above, we have sold out every home league game for the past two and a half seasons. Secondly, the reason that some empty seats are there is due to the use using Viagogo for a ticket exchange, something that United also used up to two years ago. The number of physical empty seats in both stadiums (as in, fans who have a ticket but don't show up to the game or can sell it on) has been around the same every time i have gone, there are reasons why it is more visible at the Etihad on tv though (such as the locations of the family stand areas).

This is something that annoys a lot of United fans as well as there are clearly seats at OT that are not being reallocated well enough, either through decent ticket exchanges or other means, and people are missing out. I do wonder sometimes whether the people that have a go at empty seats actually go or try to go themselves, because it really does seem pretty ridiculous to me, it is an issue that affects every club.

I think United fans are aware City sell out but obviously certain season ticket holders can't make some games and obviously the viagogo thing makes perfect sense too.

Same thing happens at OT but probably to a lesser degree now we don't use Viagogo

City can't do a lot about a seat being empty if the ticket has been sold can they

It's just banter though mate.

Believe it or not, you do actually get one or two Mancunians at OT occasionally

Do you think this Project is good for our rivalry and for the City?
........................

Without a shadow of a doubt it's been good for the City and the Premier League. The Manchester derby is now the biggest game of the season, we all know both teams will be in the hunt for trophies in May so every game matters.

Before the game was more about local bragging rights with United going for the title and City either mid-table or about to be relegated again (generally speaking), now, the game at the Etihad in particular is the most intense atmosphere in the PL, similar to an old firm game.

I go to a lot of our home league games and there are very few empty seats. One or two but they are not highly visible.
I'm not Wumming but every time I watch city in league matches I can see loads of empty seats.

I would say "an it's backed up by world wide tv audiences" that the Manchester derby is the biggest game in Britain.

That is good for Manchester so it's cool with me.

If United continue to play the way they have started this season, you'll have no difficulty spotting empty seats Les.

The most intense is the old firm

The biggest game in Britain is united v Liverpool

The most important games of the season are united v city

What like we did when we were in the old 2nd div when we still had one of the highest attendances in England ey kamikaze.

Ha!

No, I completely agree Macca and I have the banter with it too. I just some people on here don't realise there is empty seats at United too which has the exact same effect, they are just less visible on tv, you only see it if you go to both grounds.

I see the same amount in both Les, the difference is that at City, they are nearly always on the lowest tier, so can be seen easily on tv, the second and third tier I hardly ever seen any at all. At united, they are more dotted around, also where your family stand bit is is less visible on tv than where ours are.

It still doesn't change the fact that every seat sells out though, which is why the stadium needs to expand.

Newcastle had a fair few thousand seats recently at a league match and no one commented, does this mean Manchester has more seat spotters?

They could get the seat numbers and play stadium bingo.

As did Arsenal, every club has it.

It is an issue for every club in that now football is attracting more and more middle class supporters who buy season tickets but don't then turn up (because they can afford to, basically), there needs to be a much better way of ensuring those tickets can be reallocated.

The big shift to more and more season tickets after the PL came in has had just a big an effect on atmosphere as all seater stadiums have for me.

Makes perfect sense for City to bung in a few more seats.

If they manage to fill them for the big games, then that is money they have made, instead of being given to them.

Hard to argue with that really.

The club is growing, that's what the investment is all for, the training ground academy development and sponsorship is part of a plan the owners have laid down, I can't see how people are surprised about this.

Sheik Mansour and khaldoun are not in it for the short term.

They are not getting bored, and Manchester is the better for it.

God yes Vidicschin its so simple. Regardless of the banter, nearly every home prem game is sold out. So more seats means more income. Whats so hard about that?

An additional twist I suppose is that the expenditure on the infrastructure isn't counted for ffp, whereas the income is.

As a season ticket holder - and my seat is never empty - my only question is will I have to move?

Going by some united fans on here you may think that city may have a few united converts if the bubble does burst and a barren spell prevails.
