Lewis, Holyfield, Tyson. Who's best?

Lewis was the best of the three no doubt.

I'd also go with Tyson second and Evander third.

Shame that Holyfield got away with butting because I think we were denied what could have been one of the all-time great heavyweight clashes in Holyfield vs Tyson 2.

It's a shame Holyfield was an out and out cheat overall, he was a great fighter and a true warrior.

Sadly I can never give him the credit he deserves.

Tyson would have KO'd him that night.

-------------------

which night the 1st or second fight? funny to tar holy with the cheat brush but ignore what tyson did in later fights and against holyfield himself, tyson just faced someone who wasent scared of him and everytime that happened tyson got beat throughout his career

to the answer the question i would go for lewis 1st, then holyfield just over tyson

Second fight.

Tyson has never taken PED's or continually head butted, and that's not just in the Tyson fight.

Pre-prison Tyson would KO Holyfield.

Lewis
Tyson
Holyfield

But pre prison Tyson would beat everyone including Ali

im not the biggest holyfield fan by any means but tyson made a living later in his career of foul play in fights

-his hitting of savrese after the bell, his near arm break of botha

just because he did it later in his career and not his prime doesnt excuse it

and remember when tyson was champ before prison, holyfield was still pretty much a cw trying to make his name at hw( i think he had 6-7 fights) by the time tyson gt sent down, i would of expected tyson probably to take him then, also remeber after holyfields heart problems during the time of the bowe trilogy he would not have been in his "prime" aswell the 1st time he fought and dismantled tyson

--------------

and pre prison tyson gt beat by douglas so he was far from unbeatable even then, he made his reputation on living on the fear of the opposition, when someone didnt back down from him he was there for the taking, dnt get me wrong tyson was a very good/borderline great hw but he had a fatal flaw, when under adversity he coudnt handle it, time and time again that was proven

Kaz I have a huge respect for Holyfield and he was a great fighter who would have held his own against any other all-time great Heavyweight.

However he continually butted Tyson in both their fights. What Tyson did in response was a disgrace but he did that out of anger from constantly getting butted and the ref doing nothing about it.

I don't remember Tyson trying to bite Lewis when Lewis took him apart.

As I said above Holyfield butting Tyson denied us what could have been the greatest Heavyweight fight of all time in their second fight but sadly we'll only remember as a farce.

In my case as a farce I waited up until 5am and paid good money to watch.

Ruddock wasn't afraid of Tyson, how'd that one pan out?

The Douglas fight was a freak fight, Lewis also lost to poor opponents for the same reason as Tyson, not preparing properly.

Prime Tyson takes out prime Holyfield.

There's a reason everyone was terrified of him.

If Tyson had stayed with Rooney and avoided prison, I believe he'd be on a par with Ali.

Sadly he ruined himself.

Lewis is rightly ranked above him, but there's no way a cheat like Holyfield is.

What I want to know is why more wasn't done to stop Holyfield butting in the second fight ?

I think that after their first fight Tyson should have been a lot more vocal about the butting thing.

Ok it might have made him look like a sore loser but surely it wold have stopped Holyfield being able to do it again in the 2nd fight.

mate you gotta remember a prime holyfield was a cruserweight, and when they did fight 1st time both guys were past their prime holyfield destroyed him, forget the 2nd fight as that didnt have any effect in what happened the 1st time

posted on 12/10/13

i agree holyfield was butting in the 2nd fight i dnt dispute that but he battered tyson 1st fight, again though tyson did alot worse than headbutting later in his career

Going back to Lewis I would favour him against pretty much any of the all-time great Heavyweights including Ali.

In fact I think that Lewis would have beaten Ali nine times out of ten had they fought.

Had Lewis been American and maybe slightly more aggresive in some of his fights I have no doubt that many Yanks would now be calling him the greatest ever.

Kaz Holyfield was continually butting throughout the first fight as well.

posted on 12/10/13

Tyson wasn't even half the fighter he was after prison.

Even in the first fight Holyfield continually head butted Tyson and hit him with low blows.

Was Holy roided up for the first fight?

posted on 12/10/13

Round 5 in the first fight Holyfield was in serious trouble.

Out come the butts and low blows.

A good ref and Tyson may have even won that fight.

posted on 12/10/13

oh come on man give him some credit, if he was butting so bad in the 1st fight why didnt tyson bite his ear of that fight? or complain afterwards? tyson credit to him took his beating like a man the 1st time around

Hayemaker I'm not sure if Holyfield was roided up but he was very clever in the way he kept butting Tyson, making it look like accidental collisions.

As I said before I have a huge respect for Holyfield but he cheated in both his fights against Tyson and by doing so denied the boxing public what could have been two great fights.

Maybe Holyfield now going skint is part of his karma.

Point proven there. Holyfields knees buckle, if it wasn't for the butt and low blow Tyson would've remained in control.

the 1st fight was a great fight to me anyway, probably not to tyson fans

Kaz as I said above maybe Tyson didnt complain about the butting after the first fight because he didnt want to look like a sore loser.

Just look what happened to Haye after he admitted he fought with a broken toe against Wlad.

Also maybe Tyson assumed that there would be a competent ref for the second fight.

I can't help but feel that Tyson's rep as a rapist compared to Holyfield's all-American hero had a bearing there.

posted on 12/10/13

Check that video and tell me Holyfield won fairly?

Tyson was no saint but this is blatant robbery.

Holyfield couldn't face someone standing up to his cheating.

Kaz if you are assuming I'm a Tyson fan I'm not.

I also think that Holyfield was an all-round superior fighter to Tyson although Tyson's super speed (pre-prison) and knockout power set him apart.

i think thats reason enough for anyone to dislike him
