BB, makes you think sometimes when arsenal fans accuse united of kicking them off the pitch and stopping them playing their pretty football.
Vieira
Keown
Flamini
Parlour
Campbell
Bergkamp

All angels i suppose.

Only got 2 game bans as well as dein made sure of that......and they say united and fergie had influence!

Bergkamp was so sly with it too. Those sneaky elbows that everyone turned a blind eye to as he didn't fit the stereotype of a hachet man...

It was different back then, that rivalry was just epic, from Fergie and Wenger, to Vieira and Keane, it was exactly what football is all about.

But yeah, Arsenal have changed quite a kit since those days, they were no better than the Stokes and Boltons of this world back then (in terms of their physique and discipline, not playing style). That's where they've gone wrong over the last 8 years though

Totally, you don't have to be hatchet men, just have the werewithall to not allow yourself to get bullied.

That's very true, their disciplinary record back then was appalling. Remember when everytime they'd have someone sent off you'd hear "and that's arsenal's (insert number above 60) red card in wengers reign...."

Bergkamp was horrible, he had a real nasty side, RVP has a little bit of that about him too.

Toure is one of the most shocking midfielders off the ball. Just strolls around the pitch. Why are we even discussing this?

Having a pop at the Dutch now Mud. It was the illegal immigrants earlier.

Arsenal used to give as good as they got when they still had some of the old guard playing for them. Not like nowadays where you could put Louie Spence in the Arsenal team and he'd be the hardman.

Keane v Vieira was always box office. In '99 when it boiled over Jaap Stam almost got involved. It took about 6 players from each side to hold him back, whilst Vieira was easily held back by Denis Irwin.

I am staggered at the amount of people who have picked Yaya. It's not even a contest imo.

That's because Vieira was more of a wum than a hard man, you'd often see him pick a fight and then shy away.

He was scared of Keane, no two ways about it.

Rock, you said it yourself, it's my thread, ill not say whatever I want. If you don't, like this version of yaya v Vieira, go find another one! X

To those saying essien is better than both, essien was only wc for about two years, never the same player after Jose left Chelsea in 07,yaya and Vieira have been far more consistent, there for there is no point mentioning essien
