Coentrao... Marcelo (plays in europe)... Alba... Cole... Very good LB. Far from Europes best though.

Worlds best......

Guys....

It wasnt a question, he is the best LB in Europe...this thread is not a democracy.

Consistent and becoming a better defender but not the best in Europe because of that (defensive weaknesses). Baines is more like an attacking midfielder. Glad he is ours and hope that Kenwright can come up with a package to keep him. More bad news about sick note Gibson though eh!!!!!!

Sicknote?

That sort of injury could happen to ANY player....training, match.

Arteta and Jags in the space of a few weeks remember. This time we have players of quality to coverhis absence, but lets not look on the bright side.......lets moan about something eh!

I think RM would have liked to have played Gibson & Barry as a Midfield pair, then have 3 Attacking- mids in front.

That won't happen for a while now though.

Gibson is a sicknote, or unlucky with injuries ( same thing) either way he misses far to many games which is a shame for us

Arouna, don't be silly there's a good chap. I wasn't moaning and the bright side is less so now as we have missed the opportunity to play as Ditton describes. Sicknote was rather tongue in cheek as Gibson is very unlucky with injuries, I wonder if that is the same knee that he injured against Betis.

Ditton. We have other options such as McCarthy and Lundstrum to help out....im not concerned, just wish him a speedy return.

Why cant we play three AM without Gibson Mart?

I would guess Kev and Ross would be two of the three.......

Who would be the third, Ossie....Pienaar? Where would McCsrthy and the one who misses out play

Alaba is pretty good as well

What about Stevie Naismith and his Motm performance against Croatia. Got to be worth a mention!

I think Gibbo and Barry would be a good defensive option if Roberto wanted to keep things tight especially away against the so called big teams

Dai.
Why cant McCarthy and Barry fill this requirement.

posted on 16/10/13

No reason at all why they couldn't, but Ditton's comments were regarding Hibbo and Barry. It's great to be able to have the options now. One or two injuries now does not seem like so much of a problem.

Gibbo...not Hibbo?

Its fair comment, we have depth all over the pitch now/cover. I would think at the price paid and the performances shown that McCarthy can be more than a stop gap to play two sitting.

This is what I said in response to mart.....why bemoan an accident, it will just give others....Lundstrum in particular a chance, boy does he deserve a crack too.

I don't know much about Lundstrum. How much has he played and how promising is he?

He has come through the setup like Barkley and has appeared at Every level for England. I had only seen reports on how good he is.....EFC website etc. Then he went on loan in January to Doncaster Rovers....a club only 10 miles from where I live now. So went along to a few home games as they pushed for promotion, at league one level he was the standout player. The one who always wanted the ball/players looked to give the ball. His range of passing and box to box play were great to see. Doncaster knock it about on the deck and I think he had hoped to go back on loan this season. But Martinez blocked the move, so he must have plans for him

Check out the Doncaster board/ask how he did.
