So he can run?

Basically (& it amazes me how many people don't see & grasp this), the way England set-up, both tactically and formation-wise does not get the best out of Walcott.

He generally gets picked (rightly so imo) simply because he has the unique ability to stretch teams. Even if he's not really in the game, such is his outrageous pace and (now) intelligent running, that he can & often does make the difference. Be it by scoring himself or just as often (if not more so) creating offensive scenarios & opportunities for his team-mates.

I'm straining in an attempt to not digress and tear England to shreds for their general lack of tactical nous and overall technical ability (for the players they have at their disposal), but in short, Walcott is one of a handful of very effective players that England don't use properly & in-turn don't get the best out of.

Use him as a striker or an impact sub from now on.

He uses his pace well off the ball on the counter to drift into space but with the opposition behind the ball, he's not a good, natural dribbler who can create space with a shimmy or dummy or feint. We exploit him well on the inside channels but he's not meant to hug the touchline as he does for England.

Those videos would be a great watch if you didn't know the outcome of them

Townsend has a far better football brain. So does Chamberlin

Walcott shouldnt start for england unless they switch to a 4-3-3

I think Theo could actually benefit from someone like Townsend being in the team, they can keep up with one another and hit teams on the break.

Can't see the argument for Walcott being benched, who are you going to play instead, Wellbeck?

Playing Walcott as a CF with Townsend on the right and Rooney as a second striker could work very well!

I love our little Walcott but I can appreciate that Townsend was outstanding last night.

Theo's problem is he can't dribble or run with the ball unless he has acres of grass ahead of him. That's obvious and it gets him into trouble sometimes, or at best makes him 90% ineffective as Moisty has pointed out. That doesn't mean he has "no football brain". In fact he makes excellent intelligent runs and picks the right option when finishing or playing key passes as often as most.

You are parroting Chris Waddle by saying he has no football brain. Think about that for a second.

Check out the above link for an amazing football manager experience on this website, right here. it's not just that, it comes with banter and excellent friendly members. It has been running for 4 years since the old BBC 606 days, in total 6 seasons, so it must be good eh? All you have to do is manage your team, everything else is done for you. No need to waste time on doing predicitions, or taking up any responsibilities. Just try out, you could always leave after a couple of days. I myself have been part of this for 3 years now. We have a couple of vacancies waiting for you.
