Magnum - there are not many that take on the US Senate and win
He has also won several by-elections against significant odds - we need more like him in politics
But sources close to the SNP pointed out that Dennis Canavan, chairman of the Yes Scotland campaign, is a former head teacher in Catholic schools, while both the Lord Advocate, Frank Mulholland, and Scotland's most senior judge, Lord Gill, are also Catholics.
Anti-sectarian campaign group Nil By Mouth questioned Galloway's comments. Campaign director Dave Scott said: "We do a disservice to the issue [of sectarianism] if we drag it into the constitutional debate for the sake of a headline. The Scottish Parliament already has all the powers needed to tackle sectarianism."

Cg.....I've spent most of the week taking on the board of directors of a major American corporation....and I won. Like most American politicians they have lost their fight. Their need for popularity, concensus and their vanilla personalities mean that they rarely face a genuine and aggressive argument. Not surprised that they couldn't handle george.
I think thats a huge exaggeration, but he didnt say that he said Scotland is a hostile place to live if you are a roman catholic, if you are going to make such sweeping statements you should be able to back it up with hard facts
I thought that too when I stayed there but its true.
No-one takes on the Senate

Lets be honest..the anti catholic thing exists but it's nothing compared to 50 years ago. I've only experienced it from older people and a few young dafties
Im not going on about an anti catholic agenda, but more that what religion you are is only an issue in the west of Scotland.
Nobody down here gives two hoots about any of that nonsense.
