W&R, Moyes would prob be gone right now, but I wouldn't personally support such a decision. I'd be more than worried, but I'd give him time to turn it around.

But the question is how long?
Also the question arises that will Madrid appoint a manager with such a low calibre?
madrid hired pellegrini who has no great trophy record
Why dont you leave this site and go out and get a life then?
Oh wait

Marmite,
I personally would love to see him succeed or more importantly see United succeed. I never wanted him in the first place but that is of no consequence b'cos he is OUR manager. But he hasn't done himself any favours by not making one good decision all season. If you hire someone that isn't qualified for a job, the least you would want is for him to show signs of moving forward at least. I would have rather had Solksjaer over Moyes (Who despite winning a title in Molde, is still very inexperienced). Will he be better? Maybe not. But at least he will give it ago to make all these dropped points more bearable. As things stands, 1-0 victories might just be luxuries at the moment. End off...
ut he hasn't done himself any favours by not making one good decision all season.

It's okay Combo, I thought you'd have realised as a couple of the posters had mentioned it. As I said, I don't think you're a bad bloke, but when the red mist descends...
I'm one of the first who's critical of how Madrid's managed btw, but you don't need all the derisory terms to make that point.
Anyhow, water under the bridge now.
Moyes is out of his depth. The fans who continue to deny this are delusional
I 1 'd this. I only read the title though.
W&R:
Despite Madrid famously being a managerial roundabout, we've only once in my lifetime sacked a manager this early in the season, and we went two seasons without a trophy.
About profile, in the past couple of decades there've been quite a few who'd managed the academy teams or played for the club but hadn't done much worthy of note in senior management, certainly not on an int'l level. There are several who hadn't won any trophies before their appointment:
Del Bosque, Schuster, Valdano, García Remón, Camacho or López Caro, among former players or academy staff.
Others had been relatively successful with smaller Liga sides, but not all had actually won anything. Arsenio Iglesias, Benito Floro and Toshack are examples.
Pellegrini had a very good record in South America, but was hired more due to his playing style and overachievement with Villarreal imo. Even Queiroz's success had been mostly limited to youth football, his profile being higher only because of his time as assistant to SAF.
Back to United, I can see both sides of the debate tbh. The highest profile managers aren't always the best recipe for success if they fail to understand the club's identity or don't fit in with it, but even so Moyes' appointment wasn't really an inspiring one to begin with when you look at who might have been in the shop window.
His/Woodward's transfer market activity gave further cause for concern.
The fact he took over a title-winning side and is currently languishing in mid-table is worrying too, though you have to admit there've been some very tough fixtures to handle.
Maybe the main question that Moyes needs to answer though is whether there's a clear style or direction. When you look at City, it's obvious that Pellegrini's trying to instill a different (and arguably more attractive) brand of football. There'll be hiccups along the way, but you know what he's trying to do and what he's trying to do is what he was brought in for.
If you ask the same questions about Moyes, I don't think the answers are so clear, so the restlessness is more than understandable, but imo he needs to be given time - a full season at the very least, and I'd lean towards two as long as you manage to finish in the top half. Missing out on the top 4 or even Europe altogether wouldn't be the end of the world for United if by the end of the season it was at least clear what Moyes is actually trying to do with the team. Is "carrying on from Fergie" a clear direction in itself or just a request to continue to be successful?

I wouldn't give Moyes £100m in Jan and £100m in the summer.
SLM, in relative terms how much was SAF given in his first few seasons?
Think we saw it yesterday.
