It was the right move for him as he wouldn't have lasted 2 minutes in the goldfish bowl
This is a fresh start for the guy and could be the making of him
The Dundee United chairman has stated that Rangers were not allowed to talk to Goodwillie, so how could he choose Blackburn over Rangers?
His choice was Blackburn or stay at Dundee Utd.

The old firm doesn't have the same attraction it had a couple of years ago.
But just a thought maybe he wanted to leave Scotland as there was more to the rape thing, I know ge was cleared, but new start and will not see the girls down in Blackburn
Anyway this is just my thought before I get pelted with abuse for this
Jinky, i dont come on here to abuse anyone and personally cant stand the 'wums'
My response to the OP seems valid to me, what do you say to it?
How could he choose against Rangers when that choice was not available to him?
U8736
Agree with what your saying as Dundee Utd would except your bid.
My thought was he is a great player but a nightmare off the pitch, I think Coisty would have maybe struggled to control him were if Walter was still there it wouldn't have been problem
Not having a dig at Coisty but Smith had this gift he new how to handle players
I do think we will see Goodwille back in Scotland but question is a better player or not ?
"The Dundee United chairman has stated that Rangers were not allowed to talk to Goodwillie, so how could he choose Blackburn over Rangers?"
This true? Don't remember seeing it anywhere.
"This true? Don't remember seeing it anywhere"
Rangers did not have a bid accepted for GW therefore were not allowed to talk to him.
How is it possible you are unaware of this?

Apologies, man: misread your comment.
Because B/burn put in a better bid.
Then Rangers put in a better(?) bid after D.U. had accepted the B/burn bid and he was having a medical at Ewood Park.
Ally was ranting about not being able to talk to the player.
Why should he be allowed if Rangers haven't had a bid accepted?

To be honest I don't think Dundee Utd wanted to sell him to Rangers.
But if Rangers would have paid the money up front they may have got him
But we can't talk about paying the money clubs want for there players so hence the reason we are both missing out
This is what I was saying last night about Scottish football finances
This "not speakin to him patter" is bullshoite. How a club can tell a player not to speak to all interested parties is beyond me. TBH if Goodwillie wanted to come to us,he would have demanded to speak to us,so I reckon he did want the move south. Goin by what that birds since said in the papers,he's guilty as sin and would have (rightfully) got so much grief up here that a move to a Scottish club would not work, and he knows it.
Dundee Utd were probably more keen to see him to go to Blackburn as they were willing to pay all the cash upfront, as we've found out this was wanted by the bank so perhaps that was why. Hate to say it but maybe they didn't like the prospect of getting installments out of Rangers after the taxman has had his way with us
"That bird in the paper" should watch what she says.
Was this a case of that well-known "not-proven" clause in Scottish law where they can investigate you for the rest of your life?
The setup at rangers and Celtic would be better than Blackburn's. ie Youth and training facilities.
Blackburn play in a better league an I don't think the story in the Sunday Mail helped. He probably thought fluuck this when he read it.
Quebec "that bird" is takin him to court in a civil suit which could shrink his premiership wage packet a tad. The case was flung out for insufficient evidence I believe, although she sounds determined to have her day in court.
Don't really see the point in carrying this on. Jeez, it was bad enough when it was ongoing... The lad signed for Blackburn, all the best to him.
Agreed willie, only problem bein this is pretty much all United fans have had to talk aboot since big Dunc,so I dare say we're gonna have to put up with this all season. Stay tuned for Blackburn match reports on the Rangers board by Arab fans if he does ok
Goodwillie is wrong. Everyone knows that Goodwillie really really really pure definitely wanted to go to Rangers.
So when he says he'd rather be playing Man U and Arsenal than St Mirren and ICT, and that he's delighted to be playing in the Premiership he is clearly lying.
