Thought a massive amount of luck and clinical finishing
Soldados finish was pure class, look up, first touch perfect, then a clip into the corner
For someone who's been starved of the ball, he knows where the net is, someone who's been struggling would normally smash it, panic, but he was calm, cool, and perfect with his finish
Hope he gets more chances
Soldado showed his quality yesterday. All round link play was good.He tends to peel to the right to create space resulting in some interesting back heels to Townsend and walker
We are'nt Barcelona so we should give precise passing a miss. Speed of transition should be what we focus on.

Not quite sure of the validity of that statement. If we are not accurate with a slow ponderous build up then how can we be more accurate with pace.
But I do think that pace, or lack of it, is our main problem. Too much passing across the back four whilst the opposition organise their defence perfectly. Only when we have allowed them to do this do we try to go forward. And Walker I notice, rather than release the ball when he has the chance, invites the tackle on purpose, invariably coming off in a worse position than he was. And what is with all that passing the ball back to the goalkeeper, who normally only has time to punt the ball to the opposition.
Pace is what we need, and not just in one position, ie Townsend, and a lot more variation of play.
Soldado is a class player, although I think Chicken prefers Defoe...
That's what frustrated me in the Defoe vs. Soldado argument. Even when he isn't scoring he's doing something constructive. As an all round striker he's brilliant.
His touch when the ball went over his head was class, perfect! 5 goals so far this season, he's gonna get at least 15 if not more (in all comps)

AT wore Luna down, thought Luna played him well in the first half, had a torrid time in the 2nd

That makes perfect sense, if you take too long in your build up teams will close down the space hence why the passing has to be so much more accurate. By releasing the ball quicker players will tend to be in more space as the oppo will not have the time to close the space down and make it tight.
The goalkeeper pass back makes me laugh though. We spend 6 passes playing along the back for, the first sign of trouble we pass it back to lloris who then hoofs it upfront. Whats the point of the back four passing. he might ass well hoof it from start...
I actually think lloris needs to improve his distibution and kicking. (I miss Paul Robinsons distribution, in my opinion he was the best of our modern keepers in terms of launching counter attacks)
Defoe and Soldado are equal. End of.

It's about moving them out of position and starting again. That seems to be our whole ethos at the moment.. i'm confident it's enough to beat most teams imply by starving them of possession but when it doesn't work we get shown up big-time.
A direct option (Ade?) would be handy at times..
Agree more pace and flair is required.. hopefully when Lamela's settled he'll show us why we paid so much for him
Ardiles heel - Super Tottingham 5 strikers up front strike force... Golaco gola gola goooooooooooooooooooooooooolllllll!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Defoe and Soldado are equal. End of.
Not really, Defoe is an out and out poacher, just shoots on sight, which can be a good thing, but he offers very little else. Soldado on the other hand brings other players into the game, and is far more useful as he also scores goals, and can take a decent penalty, unlike Defoe.
Will give you that Sand, Soldado can score a peach of a pen.
Having been sceptical of Soldado (or rather the record fee) I have to admit I get it now after watching him a few times.
His positioning is excellent, not just in receiving the ball but making space for our other forwards.. where Defoe might drag one CB with him Soldado takes both and works them like a pro.
We'll win more games with him in the side than JD

There isn't enough off-the-ball running for me beyond the defence. Soldado had a few goes yesterday, Defoe obviously gets caught offside, but Townsend and siggy only ever receive the ball to feet. Have to work on turning the defence around more. We've got the players to supply the defence-splitting passes but very few runs
